Maybe we would have had the #9 pick in 2002 then, and picked Amare. TMac, Rashard and Amare? Hmm. Nonetheless, no complaints about winning the lottery and getting Yao.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2556933 Well, looks like Indiana is gonna land Harrington after all. This only leaves a few FA's out there that could fill out need at PF. According to ESPN's best of the rest, the top two remaining players are Ely and Evans. I think Ely would be great but we might not have enough to offer him. At this point, couldn't we just try to offer him the mid-level and see if Charlotte matches? Ely could give us a backup to Yao also. As for Evans, his rebounding would be a plus but I'm not sure if he brings anything else to the table.
We only have about $2mil left of the MLE. That probably wouldn't be enough to land Ely. The only real chance of landing anyone would be a sign-and-trade. Unless you get excited about all of the "Cato for the minimum" talk.
You mean valuable assets that Atlanta is interested in that would add up to the kind of salary that Harrington is looking for that we could actually trade. Nope. Atl is a mess anyway. Their ownership situation is so screwed up. I think they are only looking for one year contracts anyway. All we have is Deke and Bowen in that category and I doubt that those two add up to Harrington. I don't think there is any chance they take Juwon.
