Harrington would be an excellent signing. Too bad i dont know how Rockets can sign up. Isn't he new agent T-Mac's agent as well? If so, didn't he promise to deliver Roy to the Rockets? Maybe he can deliver Harrington instead. (yes, it's wishful thinking).

He is T-Mac's agent and that's why I was thinking he could facilitate a sign and trade. I don't think Harrington is the best answer but I think he's better than having Battier at PF the whole time and he's better than Juwan or Chuck.

    Latest from ESPN Insider:

    Harrington Deal Finally Done?
Aug 14 - The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the long-awaited trade, sending Al Harrington and John Edwards to the Indiana Pacers for draft picks could finally be completed today.
According to the newspaper, the deal no longer includes the $3 million in cash the Hawks were seeking in addition to the draft pick before Harrington fired his agent.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

How do they make this deal work for just draft picks? And while draft picks, I would definitely do this deal!

Its more of a quality over quantity thing. Sure we have a good number of forwards, but most of them are garbage. bowen and hayes? come on.
Dont forget lewis because if we originally drafted him like we promised, we would be talking championship this year instead of maybe playoffs.
Billups and Bibby would be great, but sorry its not going to happen.
Lewis is a legitimate possibility. He's probably not going to resign in Seattle next year and he is from the aldine-area. He wanted to play for houston and i'm pretty sure he still wants to come here.

The Pacers have a huge trade exception, a gift from the Hornets in the Peja signing.

Now don't go altering the space time continuum here. You are assuming we would have T-Mac, Yao, and Rashard, but drafting him over the colossal failures we did draft would have completely altered the circumstances leading to our acquisitions of the big two. We would be trying to build around Rashard instead having him as a compliment. I think if you asked Seatle they would say he is not a guy you build around.

Just keep in mind, the agent did his part, re the Roy thiing. It was Portland that screwed us to the wall, never forget. Portland is the one team I want to CRUSH from now on.

I agree. That's another reason why we should trade Juwan for Miles.

Rox already said 'no' to that when Roy was the 'chip'.

BTW - have you noticed the Po'land prez? Remember for whom else he prezzed? And why he stopped prezzing there???

Dude, every move affects the next move.

If we drafted Rashard in 1998, do you think we would have gotten the #1 lottery pick in 2002? At that point, our squad would have been Lewis, Francis and Mobley which is a nice squad.

So if we didn't draft Yao in 2002, do you think TMac would have come here?

    See how this works?

There is actually a distinct possibiltiy that had we drafted Rashard, we'd be destined for 10 years of mediocracy because that's the only thing Rashard and Francis have ever acheived in their careers. They'd probably be good enough to make the playoffs and get ejected in the 1st round.

Taking it a step further, it is entirely likely that the Rockets never would have gotten Francis, since the key piece of that trade from the Rockets' end was Michael Dickerson. Even if you assume that Dickerson still gets taken #14 and Lewis goes either #16 or #18, perhaps the lineups would have been a little different. No guarantee that Dickerson puts up the good numbers that he did as a rookie. Therefore, no guarantee that Vancouver gives us Francis on a platter.

No Francis. No Yao. No T-Mac. No championship.

Wow, I feel like I'm watching an episode of SLIDERS. If we continue with this line of thinking, no Yao bad toe, no T-Mac bad back, then no Rudy Gay which means no Shane Battier... which would've meant no championship in 2007!

Then again... if we had picked Jordan instead of Hakeem with the number 1 pick... hmmmmmmm..... (ok- I know that thread has been rerun 1000 times on here). LOL

I agree with you on Juwan Howard, but for most the opportunity to get Head is too good to pass up. :D

Al H? Simple...DWes a $3mm non-guaranteed deal (buy out to ensure he agrees) + Sura('s presumed injury retired contract) SnT for Harrington.

Edwards for the TE + #1.

    Doable, so do it.

Now if that would work, I'd be all for it. Last we heard, Wesley was supposed to be signing with Cleveland. However, I never heard that they had actually closed the deal.

As for Sura, last I heard, he was just starting light practices at the Toyota Center. Have they determined his status yet?

I wouldn't even be opposed to taking on Edwards for $1 mil. He would give us a legitimate 3rd back-up center or insurance if anything happens to Deke.

We wish Atl would take Head/Howard/TE for Harrington, but they are not. Especially when the wariors and I think denver? are offering major $$ and are 10x more serious about harrington then the rox.

    CD prove me wrong...please!!
