Seriously look what the Announcer in Detroit has done? DETROITTTTT BASKETBALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!! BBBBBUHHH BILLUPS~!!!!!!!! Thats all i hear when i watch them.
I know it's baseball but when Biggio is up you hear the stadium go "Bi gee o, bi gee, o bi geeo, bi gee o" Surely we can create an atmospher(i know, spelling) unlike anyother atmospher in the NBA When it comes to being the loudest.. that WILL NOT be us. Its impossible for us to be louder then teams like the Kings fans. We MUST improvise, we MUST do somthing different that sets US apart from the rest of the teams. So i think chants you see at soccer games or the atomsphere you see on Euro League basketball games should be our new thing. No other arena in America does it, we can step up!!! We just need an organizer and fans. We know of atleast 50 people at the rockets games will do it, so thats a good start while those 50 season ticket holders do it everygame more people who get used to it will join in on it thats how things get started, consistency, the more conistent we get with that, the more consisten the rockets will get, do it for the team!!! lol Also it will let Yao and V-Span feel as if they were home so they dont need to get adjusted and can dominate =P j/k
thanks! i just hate it when the media bashes us rockets fans for not being loud or passionate enough whenever they play at home. basing from the posters here in the board, i KNOW theres thousands of passionate rockets fans out there. some maybe outside of houston but i just hate it whenever the media belittle rockets fans.
again, this is what we need, feedback like this we need to get organized, like you said, we need ot be different...it would be awesome if we can introduce something new to this game everyone needs to participate!
Whoa, Nelly! You think that's my attitude in the Toyota Center? He** and no! I've been kicked out of bars in Dallas and San Antonio for my vehement cheering of the Houston boys. I make the 9-hour drive from Lubbock to Houston every year, multiple times, to scream my a** off at the T.C. No, no- my rant was about expectations. Now, if you want to talk about arena participation, no, we need a combination of Arco Arena and Lambeau Field in the arena. I'll tell you something about Houston fans- some of us may be bandwagoners, but I've been in many arenas around the U.S., and I still haven't heard anything louder than Game 6 in the 1997 WCF in the Compaq Center. Until the last shot, of course. Ugh.
Fans suck because the team sucks. Fans were good when the team was good. This isn't something isolated only to the Rockets...nearly every US pro sports teams has fans like this (maybe it's different in Europe). The Yanks weren't selling out when they sucked. Red Sox fans weren't "great" fans when they were down. The Kings didn't always have good fans. The one valid point may be that it takes Houstonians longer than some other cities to get back in the groove when the team starts getting better, but when the team improves, the fans will improve. Don't get me wrong...I'm all for your plan and all against idiot lower bowl fans who don't even pay attention. Just saying at today's ticket prices (where basketball gets hurt the most compared to football or baseball), in a city as spread out as Houston, the fan-base will inevitably suck until the team improves.
thats also one good point! with the ticket prices at tc, its hard for an average income person to scrape money to buy lower seat tickets. just not worth the price. if only tc can switch the prices where the lower bowl tickets should be affordable and the expensive seats will be the nose-bleed seats so the REAL fans can enjoy the game and the whole world can see how passionate rockets fans are and leave all those rich pricks way up in the nose-bleed seats!
so if we suck we should let our team continue to loose lol, club presidents in europe get a lot of pressure when failing to satisfy the fans I really think it's up to us...you can't just sit there and wait till someone from the roster picks up the flow we need to make them play, motivate them till the end!
What we need is demonstrable proof that Rockets fans are the most devoted and passionate in the WORLD. I propose a pact. If the Rockets don't advance to the second round of the playoffs this year, let's get a group together outside Toyota Center, douse ourselves with gasoline-- no, ROCKET FUEL! And then set ourselves on fire! THAT will send a message. We'll be legends!
Im not saying everyone in the arena needs to participate off the bat cause thats impossible. All I'm saying is that the 50 red alert rowdies or whoever you want to call them come up with some Unique chants. Like you would see at soccer games, or kind of like the Atlanta Braves tomahawk "ooooo oh ooooahh" As long as those 50 red alert rowdies come up with some good stuff and consistantly use it night in and night out it will get 'routine' The commentators will talk about it, the announcers will take notice to it. Fans thats gradually go while might not open up to it the first few times, once they expect it will join in. And then... and only then it will become natural.. then and only then it will be our 'image'. The image of Houston Rocket fans, they are different then the rest! Come on, this is a serious discussion that needs awarness. The impact this 'enviroment' would set us an image, somthing we need desperatly for years to come. Guys, normally this would be impossible but we have the 50 season ticket holder rowdies section, this can work. I have no doubt in my mind about it, I can see it~ by the end of the season people who go to the games will expect these chants and anthems!
It can, I sit one section over and my boys and I will do our best every game to have our section joining in then soon more and more catch on. If the Rockets want to be real pro-active they can get group members to come up with chants/songs (we can help do this on the BBS and during those pre-season games for trial runs) then the Rockets can place the tundra dancers up in the upper deck where folks might be more inclined to cheer so they can join in too.
That's not true. He did lead the chant and that was WEAK!! He shouldn't have to tell the crowd what to chant.
Please don't tell me what's true or not. I know what I speak of because I've witnessed it. He is not consistent. When the announcer leads the defense chant the people in my row chant when he doesn't lead it they are silent. As for him not needing to to tell the crowd what to chant ... don't presume that people who attend the games know what to do. Not everyone there in the arena are fans like us. Some people just need a little nudge.
we need unity, passion and will someone needs to step up...but it looks like this thread will dissapear in few days and this will not be mentioned again
I'm surprised krosfyah and andymoon havent chimed in yet, but the Promotions Coordinator for the Red Rowdies told us yesterday to start brainstorming on chants/cheers. We're going to be meeting up in a couple of weeks to sign all the legal stuff dealing with getting the season tickets, when we're there, we're going to discuss our ideas for chants/cheers. Any input? P.S. The Promotions Coordinator emphasized that our MAIN GOAL is to get everyone else around us involved, leading to everyone in the arena, in order to motivate the team.
I've seen him do it MANY times. Maybe not everytime because he shouldn't. He's a PA announcer, not a cheerleader. If fans don't know how to chant "defense" when that defense music comes up they shouldn't be at the game. Or then again, maybe they just don't want to chant.
you guys could use some video from diff fan groups I already posted one from youtube.... we need songs def!
