That's not my impression at all. They talk a lot about the character and work ethic of this Rockets team. Most of the discussion is focused on what the Lakers are not doing, intead of what the Rockets are doing. That's just the story of this series, I guess, and that's a bit annoying. But they provide far, far more balance in their commentary then we'd get from an all-Rockets crew. Anyways, if them being Laker fans bothers you, why would you prefer our guys? They are even more obviously Rockets fans. If I want play by play homerism during the games, I'll just stick around in the Clutchfans game thread.
It really is a shame that the guys that have followed the team all year don't get to call the games when it starts to really count. And I think they've developed a nice chemistry over the past few years, so much so that I don't miss Calvin anymore. Would have been especially nice to hear the excitement in their voices when the Rockets took game 4 and 6 at home. Would have also been nice to see more shots of the fans and the Rowdies like in the local broadcasts. Instead we get Marc Jackson publicly giving up on the Lakers and throwing support to Denver, and an interview with David Stern. Yay.
Bill and Bull, Yes! But somebody actually misses Clyde? I've heard of absence making the heart grow fonder... but absence has made you delirious
I do miss them, but I don't mind when it's JVG. He loves the Rockets as much as we do.. you can hear it in what he doesn't say... and sometimes in what he does. Mark Jackson should just shut his trap. Doug Collins, well he just pissed me off the other night But normally I don't mind him either.
It had been so long since we had a real post season, that I was not aware that the local coverage ended after the first round. I think it's unfair to the people without cable, but that's another topic. I really do miss bill and bullard, not so much because they're the best, but because they're one of us.
He was at the game last night. I don't know how.. but I spotted him on the re-run of the game last night on ESPN.. around the 8:55 mark of the 4th quarter, you can see him in a Rockets red blazer sitting next to a lady, not too far from the scorer's table. I do miss that crew though, the comedy of Clyde, the homerism of Matt and Bill. They also provided better keys to Rockets success...
I miss them alot. Their humor and easy banter just adds to watching the Rockets play. I love Clyde and his isms.
My20 sucks obviously, but hearing Bill, Matt, and Clyde all together was the best. "Truly a Dream Team, heh heh heh heh heh." -Clyde Drexler
Yes i miss them, when the rockets play on national tv i tune in to the national network anyways though bc the quality of picture is much better than on FSN and i do want to know what the media is thinking. National media that is.
we should start a petition to get local stations to brodcast these huge games... b/c that's not fair...why cant the local stations cover these games when they cover preseason, season, and first round??? if we win that championship, clyde, bill, and bull are the first voices i want to hear...
I miss them a lot. I don't mind Mark Jackson and JVG, but Doug Collins? I wish I had a device that allowed me to reach inside of the TV screen and punch him in the face. Fortunately, Game 7 is on ABC, not TNT.
I tried listening to the game the other night on the radio. No offense to the new guys, but it's just not the same without jim peterson and gene foley. They were the best.
