Like many here, I've been disappointed with Morris' progression so far. In fairness, he's only now getting some consistent playing time. Even in SL, he's somewhat bumbled his way through, but I think he's also starting to show signs of getting comfortable and asserting himself in the games. He may very well be gone if the Orl deal happens, but I think he's improving and may not be ready to go into the BUST category just yet.

Anyone else think he's going to develop into a decent player?

Would you prefer another thread about D12 or Lin?

He's a power forward, who we're trying to mold into a small forward, that thinks he's a two guard.
To be fair, he hasn't had that bad of a summer league but nearly all his shots are fadeaways...

Even if he does become decent, we have guys at his spot(s) which are far better and/or more promising in Parsons, White, Jones and to a lesser extent Patterson (and Motie when he's at the 4). Heck, even Forbes is better than him.

And I highly doubt he'll ever be much of a player. Lacks the talent and IQ, and he doesn't play to his strengths.

He has been selfish, but I think it might help him be what he is.

Moving his game to the three has been tough. I am not a fan, but am willing to give him another year. I hope he finds what works best for him and makes a difference next season.

Nope. He didn't turn out like anything I expected and my expectations were relatively low. Tweener without the power for the 4 spot or the speed for the 3 spot.

His defense in Summer League actually looks pretty solid. Very impressed with him on that front. Also his passing is better than advertised as he's been playing the wing in SL he rarely makes a bad pass. Even though he hasn't been filling it up on the stat sheet I like what Ive seen out of him as a nice piece at least in Summer League if that means anything.

Yes hes a little out of control at times right now I contribute that to his lack of playing time last year. Hes forcing the issue trying to prove his worth, but once he settles in and gets comfortable clutchfans will change there tone.

Marcus Morris is now my least favorite Rocket, with no competition (last season it was a dead hear between Jordan "can't guard the pick and roll" Hill and Hasheem "does not understand this so called 'basketball' you speak of" Thabeet).

I think Morris is quick enough to be a 3 and has the physical tools, but his game and lack of basketball IQ is just not going to let him make it even at the summer league level -- let alone the NBA level.

I think both Forbes and Dragic (and yes I mean Zoran) have been much better than him. There was a chron article by Feigan a week or so ago about how he was determined to take playing time. All his play in summer league has shown me is that he is certain NOT to get playing time and that the Rockets will not be picking up the option on his contract next season.

I am putting him in the bust category.

Didn't he have a stint with the Vipers most of the year last year? I would think he would look a little more comfortable like Forbes.

He hasn't looked great by any means, but he does look smaller, quicker. A little bit more fluid even.

He's also bringing a bit of passion I thought he lacked. He's been really hustling. His development has been overshadowed by the play of our rooks, but IMO he's showed some promise.

Forbes has always been a wing player so the transition is different for morris now playing the 3, but I morris game just needs honing

While it is a step in the right direction, Parsons shined in the 1 game of SL that he played in. Time to cut bait and run.

I'm still a fan of Morris'. He's not a bust he just never got a fair shake. I hate seeing players taken by a team that has no plans of letting the guy play. We've wasted his time and ours by bringing him here.

Dude was a damn good player at Kansas, and should have been in the running for ROY but never saw the light of day because we have an old school coach who wouldn't give him a shot at any real playing time.

He had a bad first half in the 1st game, but he was aggressive and attacking from that second half to the second game before the stitches. In the third game he was less aggressive and seems to be bothered by the injury.

Overall I like what I saw before that injury. He's quicker and more aggressive. I still have high expectation of him and I see the progress so far. He's a tweener and will need patience from the coaching staff.
