Never played either, really, but Mass Effect is an RPG with third-person shooter aspects, I believe. You can look at a video review on gametrailers.com.

S2 games (maker of Savage and Savage 2) have made an adaptation of the famous WC3 custom map DotA, it's called Heroes of Newerth (HoN) and is currently in beta testing phase and there are free beta keys available online if you look hard enough.

The motivation behind the creation of HoN was that the graphics of DotA were being severely limited by the WC3 engine, in short, the graphics in HoN are much better than in DotA. Definitely worth a look (its free!) if you were a fan of DotA and if there are enough players maybe we can make a clutchfans clan lol.

Its not only the graphics that are improved, they've upgraded the entire interface. It records all your stats such as wins, losses, kills, deaths, and most importantly, leaves. Each player also is also assigned a score or rating based mostly on their wins and losses and uses that score to balance the team or filter out players with too low of a score. Pub games in HoN are a lot more enjoyable than DoTA since you don't have to worry about leavers or one crappy player bringing down your team.

I can't figure it out. Definitely waiting for a full review before I go out and get it (though it's not out yet). I think it's being over-hyped and has the potential for a flop.

be sure to include the player base. as bad as you can get on the internet. no exaggeration; i frequent some rather degenerate forums, and even they make fun of how bad the community is.

(if anyone needs a key, i have a few i can send out.)

It is being touted as the spiritual successor to baldurs gate 2, one of the most successful fantasy rpgs to follow the dnd rules. Spiritual successor seems a bit ambiguous, but the few that have shown up Blazblue and Demon's Souls are not shabby games.

More importantly it is being developed by Bioware. This company made all the baldurs gates, as well as Knights of the Old Republic, and Mass Effect last year. If you have had any experience playing a PC RPG, odds are you've played a Bioware game.

There aren't that many in depth rpg's that come out. This is one, and by a company that's done it right in the past. The previews say it is like one of the best computer RPG's of all times, Baldur's Gate.

I think because of this, there is a lot of hope, and expectation for it out there.

The problem with bioware games are that they are not sandbox type games.. like Fallout 3 and Oblivion.. once u get a taste of playing in a completely open ended environment, it's hard to go back to linear play.

Age of empires 3 is a really good RTS game..
Modern warfare 2 is out Nov. 10 i believe.. only thing is that it will not support dedicated servers off the start (if a pc gamer)
Call of duty: world at war (COD5) is really fun as well, with the zombie mode.
the one fps game i've been waiting for is Battlefield: bad company 2, but it wont be out till March of next yr.
Left 4 Dead 2 is coming out on the 17th of November as well..

I dunno, I love JRPGs and they're as linear as you can get. I loved Fallout though that's more because I love the originals. At the end of the day, I'm still a PC gamer at heart, PC Games > Console gaming and Bioware and Blizzard are two of the few companies still putting out true quality PC games.

I downloaded Dragon Age creator creation demo and tried it, turned down the graphics a notch and was able to run it smoothly. Does that mean I'll be able to play the game fine??

    1) "Successor" to Baldur's Gate - one of the best RPG series ever created. Ranks up there with Ultima IMO.

    2) The potential to be a great single-player RPG with a great story as opposed to another lame MMORPG trying to out-do WoW and doesn't live up to the hype. People have been waiting for a great single player RPG for a while now.

    3) Supposedly over 100 hours of gameplay.

    4) It's made by Bioware.

I love Fallout 3, and Oblivion. I also like playing within a well written story. I understand they aren't sandbox, and not everyone's tastes are going to be the same.
