I always thought diet Mountain Dew tasted more like diet Mountain Poo . Did they change the formula recently or something? Regular Mountain Dew tastes nothing like the diet counterpart IMO. It's like night and day to me. But, I gave up sugar soda years ago so I drink diet DP and diet Coke now mostly.
The regular tastes different to me now, but that may be because I drank nothing but for five years straight.
