I thinkn Rice Village or Uptown Park would be a great place for one....it could feed off of the other bars very easliy
uptown park wouldnt be a great place for the bar in my opinion. I think it could get crowded at times but the Village would be packed with the colleges around there and thats where I hang out haha
Tyree - I am not sure if I am quite ready to devote all of my time and energy into something like this yet. But I should know by June whether or not we will be moving to Houston, so that's when I'll really sit down and try to see if this is something that I want to do. Of course, if I do move to Houston, but decide not to open my own bar, I could be helpful for anyone that may be interested in starting a dueling piano bar. Jeff - I know why you never liked piano bars. Because you are a real musician. The piano bars are full of some of the best musicians that I've been around, but the nature of the gig holds them back from being musical. When I first started training to do this, my biggest put-off was the lack of musicality. All of the songs are rushed and played real choppy to get the crowd clapping and singing along. But this show was never meant to be musical. It's more of a comedy, get the crowd into it, and play songs that everyone knows kind of show. Now that I've been doing it for a while, I'm actually enjoying this more than I did back in the band days. I feel more connected with the crowd and I love keeping people entertained throughout. Of course I have to play Piano Man 10 times each night. It is nice every now and then to jam with a band. So little pressure with that.
No question. If I want to hear a band play covers, I'll just listen to the original band on my CD player.
