I play my GC so much with my 5 yr old, that my wife claims she's a "gamer widow". We are into SSB, Zelda, F-Zero, Spongebob, Metroid Prime, and Kirby.
Windwaker is the ****, and RE 4 was phenominal, I didnt get into Metroid Prime though, and I am a huge metroid fan.....Nintendo is the **** though
I've got a gc. It was okay but in retrospect I wish I had gotten an Xbox to go with my PS2 instead. I was expecting a lot more game selection and thought N had learned from their mistakes with the N64. I was wrong. And I absolutely loathe the controller. Okay, it feels alright in your hands, but the button layout is piss poor and I hate the spring action of the shoulder buttons. Wasn't really expecting that to be an issue at all.
A gaming thread, and RC Cola is nowhere to be found. It's a nintendo thread though, so why would he. Sony Viral Marketer ftw! Anyway, I want to play Mario Strikers still, I haven't been able to convince my bro to get it yet. I scammed him into getting Golf and Tennis, still need to get him to get baseball and soccer.
I have a GC.. RE4 was the best game of the year IMO.. I love playing all the Mario games SMASH/KART/TENNIS ex.. great system IMO..
I've always been a Nintendo fan, and the GC has served me well over the years. I bought RE4 around Christmas time, but I'm still stuck in the house where you and the other shady character shack up and fight off like 50 zombies trying to break in and get you (and presumably the girl). I've come close (I think) to beating it but those ****ers with the aliens that pop out of their head always end up getting me. Anyway, Metroid Prime was great, although I could never finish that game either. Mario Sunshine was spectacular, Smash Brothers Melee has provided plenty of entertainment. But, oddly, the game that I have gotten the most play out of is easily Animal Crossing. I bought it on a whim several years ago and still play it pretty regularly today. It's a great game to play with the whole family because there's no real goal or enemy, so little kids can play it and have fun not worrying about when the next enemy will pop out and kill them. Antisonic, I got Eternal Darkness a while back. It was very easy to finish, but I really enjoyed it...especially the "fear" factor. Some really cool effects that development crew came up with, but I won't spoil any of them.
I got that game a few months back used and I could never get into it.. I'm at the part when you go back to the girl after you become the Egyptian guy... Does it just take awhile for the game to start to pick up??
It's been a long time since I've played it, but I don't remember a long lull to start out. If you are looking for the difficulty to ramp up anytime soon, don't hold your breath. As I recall, the game was pretty easy and provided no challenge, but it was fun.
I got one as a Christmas gift a couple years back to play Mario Kart Double Dash. Donkey Konga is a suprisingly fun party game. In fact, that's the #1 thing the GC is good for, IMO. Just fun, easy to pick up games that friends can play when they come over. Any game that Nintendo puts out will be fun, hands down. I'm thinking of modding mine soon. You can buy the qoob pro chip for around $50, and it only has four wires to solder. I could only see myself buying a few more games used for this thing anyway, so modding it opens up so much more for me. I would rate the GC below the PS2, but above the XBOX. I have all three, and the lack of RPGs for the XBOX is staggering, which is why I rate it last. Haven't tried the XBOX360, and won't get one until it's moddable.
my 6 year old and i share a gamecube. he loves the star wars games, Madden, MLB, and Spider-Man. all of that works well for me!
the secret to this part is to conserve your ammo. you can do this by using your pistol. shoot one zombie in the leg. when they fall to their knees, go up close, press R1 and then the kick button. this will cause considerable damage to the kicked zombie and anything he hits when he falls back. also, this will save you a few rounds of shells. only use your shotgun when they are lined up and about to overrun you. you can use the ammo saving technique throughout the game. before you know it, you'll be stocked up with shotgun shells.
Sweet! I knew you could kick, but I didn't know you could drop zombies to their knees to set up the kicks. I'll definitely use that one.
Not all modding is done for piracy. I modded my x-box to turn it into a cheap media center.. I never knew you could mod a G/C or even what can be done with a modded one..
yeah i know glyde, but he implied modding so he wouldnt have to pay for games anymore. which is all fine, not sure of anyones financial situation. but just saying modding a cube seems like more expensive than just buying used games that come with everything going to the dallas game tonight. anyone else?
