The funny thing about Chicago deep dish is that it's only the tourists that really eat. Deep dish is dead.
idk about pizza but theres an awesome place called "Chicago Hot dog shack" on FM1960 by Red Oak Drive
Giordano's screwed up due to real estate issues from what I read. It'd be funny if deep dish pizza was a fad. "omg the pizza is too thick! We Chicagoans decree deep dish is no longer cool after decades of popularity! Please get the word out!" Back in January, we had a get-together/pizza party at work where the guy who threw it made the pizza. Another guy b****ed about how the only place he loved pizza was at Giordano's so we flew pizzas from Giordano's in. I used to be one of those guys that said pizza is pizza and couldn't care less where you got it from, but this pizza is probably the best I ever had. Oh, and btw, the guy who said he'd only eat from there is a Chicago native, so he must've not gotten the memo about deep dish being "out". Lol. I saw the blurb about Giordano's filing for bankruptcy last week and showed him. He nearly had a heart attack. I don't believe they're shutting down, though.
If somebody opened a good deep dish pizza joint in houston they'd make a killing. Not only are there are a ton of midwestern transplants here, but our natives love to gorge themselves.
