For the fuel, just put in whatever the manual recommends. IDrive and every other rotary navigation interface like it are about the dumbest thing put into a car. What used to be a button-click is now spin, spin, push, click, spin, etc. lol. Seriously, I've never used it, but eh. I don't know about BMW, but there's no way I'd let a car run 15k miles without an oil change. Apparently it's ok to go that long without an oil change, though, but I'm guessing it better be synthetic. I think every 3k is a waste, on the other hand. I change around 6000-7500 miles (at least that's what my MID suggests). You may want to go to BMW forums for specifics on aftermarket purchases. Many of them have group-buys where you can get in at cheaper prices on stuff. For whoever posted the A5/S5. That's the car I really, really, really want... the only problem is ... it's an Audi. It may break down or explode by the time I get it home. lol. I can't stand German car interiors, though, outside of some Mercedes.
I personally have an E39 M5 which I love. Im a fan of the E39 over the E60 but that's just preference. I'm a part of a lot of BMW forums if you want some info and if your looking for parts and stuff let me know because I have a lot of connections on the web for performance and anything else. I only put Shell or Chevron 93 in my car because that's what's recommended and as far as oil changes I do about every 5000 miles since I push my engine a bit more being a performance car. You deserve what you get if you believe 15k oil changes are fine. So aftermarket is not classy because you saw one ugly modified picture online? Way to act/think like a snob and maybe that's why some people think bmw drivers are douchebags, because they don't know anything about cars and feel like they have the best car in the world just because they paid a premium price. Of course if you pay 45k for a 5 series, you better have one damn good car.
I guess it's all preference. A lot of people like to mod their cars. I happen to like that white one. Then again this is how mine looks.
Oh yeah, I had forgotten that you got an M5. I think you posted that a while back. I've been reading up quite a bit on bimmerfest.com, but haven't really checked out any other forums. Are you still up at Live only on Sundays? I need to come up there for some quality football and alcohol time.
