I have enough in the ol' savings account that I feel comfortable splurging on something I've wanted for many minutes now: a banjo. Anyone here play? Any recommendations for a relatively inexpensive model that could serve me well for a good long while?
Not really a player, but I've got a Deering Good Time banjo, which feels good to me and has a good reputation. $300. Plus, it's not all varnished and garbage like that.
I play. Deering is a good choice. A word on timbre - a sweet real skin head or a fiberskin head will take the killer treble out of a cheap banjo and warm it up enough to be pleasing to the ear. Cheers, Brock
Man, my cousin plays... and I think it's an awesome skill. I play the drums, but have wanted to take up a stringed instrument for some time now. Hmmmm...
