Stop worrying. If the food supply in California becomes inedible for any reason we will ship in all that is needed to keep y'all fed. The seafood can be fished in other areas until the fisheries off of Cali become safe again. The Pacific is huge and the fisheries off of Mexico all the way south off of South America can more than feed us.

Also it is known that the cannery processing plants is not a very green industry and we can move that nasty dirty industry to outside the state. Win win all around. A couple years ago the state was in talks to give tax breaks to keep that industry from closing and open in other areas and this way those industries can move and Cali can keep tax base the same.

    Win win!

Thanks b-bob. I really need to start reading the papers or watch the news more. Living in Phoenix, I'd say it's a mild concern but it's always nice having input from someone that's actually familiar in the field.

You have a larger possibly of getting cancer by smoking, inhaling car exhaust fumes, and getting an X-Ray than contracting cancer from eating West-coast fish that have proven to have levels of radiation close to that given off of a banana.

Obviously more radiation is worse than less radiation, but unless you eat radiated fish three times a day every day for a year; most people will be fine.
I mean if you are freaking out about something this minuscule then what do you think about mobile phones?

Well i wear headphones instead of holding the phone to my head for hours, i figure that a little better for me.

Im not a health saint, i live in polluted houston. I just think its important to be aware of situations like these and try to do the best you can for your health.

The radioactive water is in the ocean. Most of the crops in California are irrigated by snow melt water coming from the Rockies or high Sierras. There is almost no more fishing industry, the fishing jobs all went to Asia or South America.
So there is actually very little direct contact between the average citizen and the ocean water. Most folks here don't often surf or swim in it.

I just read the study and it said nothing about 1/3rd chance of newborns likely to suffer from abnormalities. it cited newborn infants in the weeks after the disaster.

as an expecting father on the West Coast, I would appreciate if you would actually read the research and interpret the data without resorting to fearmongering from "alt news" websites.
