who's going to take AI at 20 millions on his last year contract? Pistons wanted cap flex, so they will not trade him away, beside who would have that kind of room to sign him?

I say sign him. He still has a bit left in the tank and score in the post, grab boards and play some D. He may be undersized but a better option for backup center than our other forwards.

He was my starting PF from NBA Live 98 to NBA Live 03.
Is he able to run and jump now? Or just like Juwan Howard two years ago?

What a major diss to McDyess...I mean he actually plays defense.

I am just asking... Haven't watched his games for long...(except against the Rockets)
Last time I saw his game, he was still in Denver

As has become obvious with the news of the trade being a done deal, McDyess will not play for another team besides the Pistons and probably retire.

    Close thread please

Juwan Howard just suffered from over hype like Kwame Brown, but he was always a solid forward.

Since this thread happened and I don't think it's worthy of being in another thread, how about Billups? Say Denver is way out of it by the All-Star Break; Billups is making 12 million a year for three more years, so Rafer and Shane for Billups would work. By the last year of his contract he won't be worth it, but for this year...

    Chauncey Billups
    Tracy McGrady
    Ron Artest
    Scolandry
    Yao Ming

That's like, some sort of fantasy team, right?

This is not a video game or fantasy sports. No team will give up Billups for Rafer and Batman... :D

No thanks. I don't want a 35 year old one-legged Antonio McDyess eating into Chuck Hayes' minutes. He would add nothing to this team.

true, but it seems like most people want a big center that can rebound and play D. And if youre just looking for spot minutes at center, you might as well go with scola or even dorsey for spot minutes. also, even if its just a handful of big guys (and i only listed a quick few in my first post) that we want an extra center for D/rebounds, those are the teams that we will face in the playoffs. and lets not forget guys can always draw fouls on yao which will force him to the bench and we will need some to D up.

You haven't said anything that McDyess cannot do. "Big" centers are few and far inbetween, very good "big" centers are even fewer. McDyess can hold his own against most of the big men in the West.

Some of you are spazzing about a player's height too much and immediately think we'll be pushed into the paint and dunked on repeatedly if we don't have 7 footers across our lineup. Sure height and length helps, but somebody forgot to tell Chuck Hayes that.

This is a moot point anyways, but need to dispell the myths on what McDyess can bring and our height hysteria.

for all the reasons not to get him..

how about the fact that Denver probably wants him.

They got Billups because they want to win.

Their frontcourt has creaky knees KMart, creaky-everything Nene, and what? No one else of consequence, unless they go small with Kleiza or Melo at the 4. (Birdman, Juwan, Steven Hunter, etc.)

So yeah, I think McD was a relatively important part of the deal for them, too

I like McDyess. He's a good big man with complete package, defensively and offensively. This kind of asset is in short supply throughout NBA. He's only downside is age, but we wouldn't get a young McDyess anywhere either. He's a better version of PJ Brown(yonger, better), so let's go after him if it's cheap.

He can play backup C at this point in his career. I would prefer him to Deke since McDyess actually scores buckets and can still run a bit. Actually, the only time I think Deke even belongs on the floor is against Shaq. Why keep a player on the roster who is only effective against a guy who is old and sucks (Shaq) and is on a team that is not a contender?

I would do it, and then use one of our PFs + Head + Francis to trade for a good pg!
