Does somebody have a gun at your back forcing you type rhetoric like this or do you actually believe it?

U.S. law will never dictate that the Redskins must change their name.

The law may eventually make the name less profitable, but the "barrel of a gun" will never be used (unlike how it was used to protect the trademark, however).

So, you can stop your belly aching now.

I have it's almost a direct quote from Atlas Shrugged.

While those that spend time in the D&D are accustomed to Commodore's conservative viewpoint we can still respect him but to actually quote Ayn Rand to make a point just lost him some serious credibility.

Actually the federal government isn't deciding. They are responding and defending a culture within this nation that they govern. Native Americans vote too and contribute a lot of money to campaigns.. Daniel Snyder only counts for one vote. But the NFL and Native American casinos are making money hand over fist and neither pay as much taxes as they should (I don't believe the Casinos have to pay any and generated over $18 billion one year)... And then the NFL charges us high prices and expect citizens to pay for a percentage of the stadium.

I think there are other things you could be upset about. But if Washington has to change their name. So should Cleveland.

The Cleveland Browns are named after Paul Brown. I was speaking of the Cleveland Indians...

Yeah I know, was a weak attempt at humor. Dont be surprised when a group does organize against the Browns because it may imply something else. Its a slippery slope once you start down it.

It's really not a slippery slope (which is weak anyway, everything can be arbitrarily deemed a slippery slope). The name should never have existed, was offensive from the very beginning, and sticks out like a sore thumb in the world of sports team nicknames that suck and should be changed.

There's not a lot of analogues to it, which is one of the reason why it's such an absolute no brainer to change it, and most sane people would have done it a long time ago.

Point taken. Just like I said in an earlier post. Oklahoma means "Red People" so is that going to be changed as well...???

But the Native American government and the NFL don't pay taxes like the rest of us hard working Americans so I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Native Americans are not from the West Indies or India so they are not Indians. Most Natives like to be referred to by their tribe btw. And have you seen the goofy looking mascot Cleveland has... So why stop with Washington...

I would not be surprised to see Chief Wahoo go away. In fact, I'm not certain they're wearing him on their hats anymore...I think they just wear the C for Cleveland.
