I think Randolph could become a player similar to Josh Smith. Based on FT% he could be a better perimeter shooter too.
Given his potential, size, the coaches and teams he has has played and failed for in the past, the fact that he's still young, and the way the Rockets' season is going, he might be worth a go as long as the Rockets don't have to give up too much. Only concern is that he's unhappy for lack of PT on the Knicks, and the Rockets might not be able to offer him much more. They're having a hard enough time working the guys they have into the rotation. If Randolph were to come here, people would really have to temper their expectations. It would be a gamble. But I think the gamble on Randolph for the first-rounder is probably more promising than the gamble they'd take with whomever they were able to draft with the first rounder.
Here is a deal I proposed from a grizzlies perspective: New York gets: Melo, Mayo and Jermaine Taylor, their first round pick back from rockets. Memphis gets: Wilson Chandler, Toney Douglas and Chris Anderson. Houston gets: Hasheem Thabeet Denver gets: Danilo Gallinari, Kelenna Azubuike and Eddie Curry, Multiple first round picks from New York.
All you are giving up is a mid to late round first round draft pick. You should be ecstatic that you get Thabeet frankly. He fills a need for you all and is insurance against yao's injury. If you wish to light up the world with a big trade give up more.
By his 2nd year, it was obvious the Charlotte Hornets made a franchise-altering mistake trading Kobe away. What makes people post stuff like that?
That's a terrible deal for us. He is a very raw backup center who has a long way to go. I'm not sure if he can pan out as a consistent NBA player.
If you won't somebody else will. It ain't like we'd be pining for your new york first round draft pick, that's probably why new york hasn't pulled the trigger on that deal. You're pick isn't worth much trust me.
I completely forgot about Thabeet, almost like he isn't even on the Grizzlies any more. By anyone's definition he is a total bust. I had him pegged in college as a sorry NBA player.
