AR has basketball skills-- can handle the ball very well, very good rebounder, can use his length to contest shots, etc. Very good skill level for a guy his size. Not a consistent shooter and tries to do more than he can. I don't think he'll ever become a "superstar," but he has "Lamar Odom" potential to become an great complementatry player who has an interesting combo of skills.
I wondered how hard this would be to figure out. While there's probably a site out there that does it, given that by my count, he's only played more than 30 minutes in 15 games his entire career, wasn't too hard to do manually. In those games, his stats are: 43.5% shooting 79.4% FT shooting 10.1 rpg 1.8 apg 1.5 TOpg 1.7 spg 2.0 bpg 3.5 PFpg 15.5 ppg not quick 25 and 15, 3 and 3. Combined with that atrocious shooting for a big...yeah, not good.
From Chris Sheridan's chat today... Chris Sheridan (12:28 PM) The Nuggets would want Fields (and Gallinari or Chandler) in any package for 'Melo, and Eddy Curry's expiring contract would have to be in there to make the money work. But the Nuggets are not all that enamored of A.Randolph, who the Knicks are willing to deal, so that is where a third team would come into the picture and take Randolph for a draft pick that would then be sent to Denver. No one in the right mind who give up a top 10 pick for him but 15-25 pick...uhmmmm Not saying I would make the trade or not but I think if Morey wanted the kid, he could have him for the 2012 pick sent back. Edit - Later in the chat he actually says a 20-30 pick would be logical for AR.
Wouldn't mind taking a gamble on AR, I mean we all know the whole Hill and the Knicks saga, I am quite happy we ended up with him.
If it's a bargain you better believe that Daryl is eyeing it. Bringing him into a Rox squad who is really clicking right now, will prob cause some chemistry issues, he won't get minutes right away RA will make him earn his minutes in practice, before getting on the hardwood. Randolph is young, needs a coach to get him to realize he is still young, & has years of development left under his belt. Wherever AR goes, expect him to do better, seems like the type of guy to hold a grudge to the point where that grudge pushes you to be better than what everyone has expected from you.
I don't understand why everybody is so high on this guy, am i missing something, what so special about this guy..?
If we can get him for a draft pick then it sounds good. Send him down to the d-league if needed... Look at what our coaching staff has done with Jordan Hill, Carl Landry, etc. We can turn any big man into a solid contributor as long as his name is not Joey Dorsey.
He is very skilled at doing a lot of things. This has been demonstrated on the basketball court and previously described in this thread. I gather you haven't ever seen him play well. It's something to behold. Personally, I've never been high on AR because his problem between the ears is severe. I'm willing to cut him some slack because of my low opinion of Nellie and D'Antoni. But to be very successful in the NBA, guys have to be able to focus for long periods of time in grueling games and tedious practices over a 6 month period of travel, travel and more travel. Some people just don't have that ability. IMO, this describes AR is why he won't be very successful.
He's a more athletic Eddie Griffin. That's why people are so high on him. Unfortunately, I think his basketball career will go just about as well as Eddie's.
Might have something to with these kinds of skills............ <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4TJARASNxEo?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4TJARASNxEo?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Thanks for this, I wasn't going to bother to look it up but I did learn to use the big lie from the OP. Next time I find some d-leaguer like James White, I'll pull out some fact like he scored 45ppg in a back to back but forget to mention it was in Bakersfield.
Good work, I read this somewhere online, but maybe it was 35+? I'll go check it out... He has a pretty nasty per36 as well...
24/16/55% 14/8/40% 20/15/47% 8/12/75% 17/8/39% 15/9/46% 28/13/44% 18 and 12 with huge steals and blocks when he gets 35+ minutes... As a 19 year old, he averaged 16 and 12 with 2.5 blocks on 46% shooting, per 36 minutes. As a 20 year old, he averaged 18 and 10 with 2.5 blocks on 44% shooting, per 36 minutes. He hasn't played this year, but I would say he is pretty talented... Stromile and Gerald Green NEVER showed that production. That is superstar production, from a kid.
