I say hold on to the pick and try to use it to actually improve the team, not merely stack up another redundant asset. If that asset, however, leads to improving the team by putting him in another trade, then OK.

Not according to Morey and sources. NY did not want to trade Hill but had to in order to make the trade work at the last minute

    ^TOTALLY WRONG !!!

You obviously have not actually seen him play and defend. He's got SF written all over him ! Grow him away from the block and develop his shot and you will create a monster

If it is possible to trade the right to swap with the Knicks, I wouldnt trade one of our league given picks whether its 2011 or 2012

I had a tough time reading your post at first. But the right to swap picks & the pick itself are two totally different deals. Most teams, in this instance, want the first round pick in itself.

No he isn't at all. He is a PF plain and simple.

and "develop his shot" is not something you can just learn in an offseason.

So what are we gonna do with

    Anthony Randolph
    Scola
    Hill
    Pat Pat
    Hayes
    Yao
    Miller
    Jeffries???

When are we gonna eventually send some of these guys packing for one real good player and not alot of pieces? I am seeing the stock piling but???? when does it stop? When we corner the market on young talent with /potential?

^ True...it takes time, but we will have to agree to disagree about him being able to play the 3. I think he is a 3/4 with the height to play 5 not the size.

Now that we just got T-Will our second group could look like:

    Brooks
    Lee
    Randolph
    Hill
    Miller

    or

    Brooks
    Lee
    Bud
    Randolph
    Hill

    or

    Brooks
    Lee
    Randolph (6'"11)
    Hill (6'10")
Thabeet (7'3")(if we trade for him as discussed)

This third group is long, athletic, can score inside (Randolph & Hill), can score outside (Brooks & Lee), and can defend the perimeter and the basket (Lee, Randolph, Hill, Thabeet)

    Thats how you rebuild.

Jefferies & Pat will likely be included in a trade. Hayes will likely or SHOULD be the odd man out with regards to PT. I think Randolph should develop at the 3 spot and occasionally play the 4

I disagree. Dantoni was the coach during Stoudemire's early growth, Joe Johnson developed while under Dantoni's time as coach; Landry Fields, Toney Douglas, Danillo Gallinari and other young players get consistent playing time under his coaching, but not Anthony Randolph; and Dantoni lead his team to the WCF in 2006.

Conclusion: Anthony Randolph is a scrub.

The kid is not a scrub by far. Like every team, certain young players fall out of favor with coaches. Just like Gerald Wallace did in SAC with RA, like Hill did in NY, like Terrance Williams did with Avery in NJ, etc... This does not mean that the player is a scrub, it means that the situation or organization is not best suited for him at that time.

Randolph needs a hard working, professional, developing environment to polish his rare and raw talents. Nelson showcased Randolph's skills toward the end of his rookie year in Golden State and he turned in some serious games.

I've noticed 3 different games where he did a plethora of things that NO ONE on this rocket's team has been able to do in one package for a very long time. The combination of skills that this kid has is unbelievable. He instantly creates match up problems and forces other teams to match up to him if for no other reason than his height. Then on top of that he handles the ball like a guard and defends the weak side and rim like a center. You have to play him and give him the opportunity to grow. This is exactly the type of thing that OKC has done. They have created great players by giving them an opportunity for on the job training. They have thrived and are growing extremly fast.

Believe it or not, the Rockets are already in the early phases of rebuilding because they know Yao is not "THAT GUY" anymore, so adding a player that is young and UNIQUE with MAJOR UPSIDE is exactly the types of players you invest in.

In games against the Spurs, Jazz, and Suns who were all playoff teams in the WEST, Randolph appeared to have some of his better showings. Players like Drew Gooden, George Hill, Bruce Bowen, Carlos Boozer, and Matt Barnes are all different types of players that attempted to match up against him, but with all of them you can clearly see match up problems.

'' Knicks Wanted Pick Back From Houston For Randolph ''via Houston Chronicle

Daryl Morey declined the Knicks' offer to send the Rockets Anthony Randolph in exchange for the return of full rights over New York's 2011 draft pick.

Houston was granted the right to swap their own pick for New York's pick, only protected for the first overall selection, in the Tracy McGrady deal completed on deadline day last February.

New York also traded Houston its 2012 pick outright but that pick is protected for the top five selections.

i guess its better for morey to hold onto it and make the knicks be at his mercy.

I think Feigen may have messed this one up.

It makes far more sense if the squabble is over the Knicks wanting their 2012 pick back. THAT is the pick that is really mucking up the works for New York, trade wise.

That 2012 obligation is keeping them from being able to trade their 2011 and 2013 picks. Getting back full rights to the 2011 changes little for them. They still couldn't even trade it. And with the Knicks playing so well, it may make zero difference in where the pick ends up anyway.

Yeah if the Knicks were offering Randolph in exchange for full rights to their 2011 pick, my guess is that Morey would jump all over that.

Randolph is an athletic SF in a 7' frame.

Williams is an athletic point forward.

Both are incredibly talented, but poorly developed up until this point in time.

I think Morey will force the Knicks to get him what he wants for the pick. All he is really doing is trying to maximize the value of the Knicks own pick by waiting until the Knicks PANIC to the point that they will give us what ever they want for it. That means that we could essentially get Randolph + ? (either Klalena Azubukie or Wilson Chandler) for a pick(s) + cash + ? (Ish,Patterson,Bud)

If we were to get something from the knicks like

    Anthony Randolph + Wilson Chandler

    FOR

    2012 1st pick + TE + C-Bud

THAT WOULD BE THE STEAL OF THE YEAR all because they PANICKED!!!
