I would have thought that after the Knicks made that "you will make millions in endorsements by being in NYC" to Lebron and he didn't buy it, that this idea would be discredited by now.
Dampier has a unique contract in that it's a $13M non-guarenteed deal. If Denver trades for expiring deals (like Battier or Jeffries) they don't see any savings until next year. If they trade for Dampier they can wave him and the money immediately comes off their books.
I don't really understand the fascination with Devon Harris, both in articles and with some posters here. Favors and Lopez, I can understand. Lopez may already be a more attractive player than Melo when you account for age, position, and salary. Favors has that whole "potential" thing going on as an athletic freak and a #3 pick. If either player is part of NJ's deal, the Nuggets IMO would be stupid to pass up the offer. But Devon Harris? Seriously? What has this guy ever done that makes him so attractive to the Nuggets? 1. He missed on average 30 game per season. Yes, that's even worse than Kevin Martin. 2. He plays no defense 3. He will be 27, but has played EIGHT years in the league already. And he's played in all those years, unlike say a Jermaine O'Neal who sat on the bench for a while. So he's an old 27. 4. He can't shoot the 3. His shooting last year was an abysmal .403%/.276 3PT%. 5. His passing okay for a PG but not amazing. 6. His best quality is his ability to get to the FT line. Which is not something that stays with age, especially one with such an injured history. 7. He plays the position where Denver has a great player now(Billups) and future(Lawson). Why is he even in trade discussions? If anything, he's the type of guy who's worth more to NJ than in any trade.
Quit pretending that every player that doesn't win a ring by 26 can't lead a team to a championship. Many NBA stars didn't win any championships by Melo's age. Hakeem, Drexler, Jordan, Shaq, Garnett, Pierce, Allen, and Billups were ringless at 26, too.
First, after spending a miserable year suffering through the boards for the Nets, there is NO way the Nets trade Lopez. Any trade from the Nets for Melo would be centered around Harris, Favors (who they REALLY don't want to give up), Terrence Williams and some of their HUGE stash of picks. That said, if it's just for Melo, the Nuggets have no need for Harris with Billups and Lawson already on the roster, and T-Will is more of a SG than a SF so JR would have to disappear from Denver as well. The Nets would seemingly have to get a third team involved. They could pull the 3-teamer that Hollinger proposed with the Bobcats sending Harris to the Bobcats where Houston would have sent Brooks. The Nets would need a point guard in return and perhaps Billups would be included with Melo. New Jersey would look REALLY good with Billups, Williams, Melo, Favors, Lopez....but I don't see this happening at all. The Clippers...yes they have assets, but let's be honest...it's the Clippers. The biggest pull for Houston is obviously it's his best shot at winning a title from the seemingly available options. Lowry can start at PG and Lee can start at SG if Brooks and Martin go in a trade. However, I would throw in an extra pick or whatever it took and bring Ty Lawson back if possible (instead of Billups). This would be hard to pull off just from a rebuilding standpoint in Denver - they'd want Lawson running things. I definitely see a three team deal if he comes here though...too many PGs between Denver and Houston. Here's hopin' Melo to the Rockets!
If I have that kind of power, then I guess I should do one for Donnie Walsh, Donald Sterling and the Russian (don't know his name off the top of my head). Re-level the playing field if you will.
Y'all are crazy man. If you love women, you gotta enjoy her look. Sexy lips, voluptuous body, takes care of herself. She looks good. With those fun bags bouncing in your face, I'd hope you would change your tune
The more I read about LaLa, the more I think this is being overplayed by the Nuggets, in trying to ramp up Melo's trade value. Melo's got his preferred destinations but it seems like they might not include the Nets or Clippers. If those teams are in play they can only help to extract better offers from a team like Houston. Otherwise if the Nets & Clippers are truly in play why don't they get a deal done if they have the assets the Nuggets value the most? If Melo prefers these destinations so much wouldn't those teams try to lowball the Nuggets with this info? Bigger market, more corporate sponsorship opportunities. LeBron choosing to form a supergroup in Miami neither proves or disproves this.
What's the deal with Nuggets4? He's been awfully quiet ever since that Yahoo article with Houston > New York came out 6 days ago.
