    sportsguy33 Fairest trade: Melo/JR/Billups to Houston for Brooks/Kev. Martin/J. Hill/Battier/Jeffries + NYK's 2012 #1 + $3 million. Denv saves $21 mill.

    ..............wut.
Hollinger is ESPN's residental statistical genius or something, and the guy who invented PER.

Clippers and Nets can give superior trade offers to us, I don't deny that for a minute (man, I think Minnesota has become an even more pathetic org at this point with that pick). The catch is whether Melo wants to go there. I could see him going to New Jersey, but the Clippers? If he wants to go there because his wife (whom really isn't anything special) can go be a star, I'll laugh. They're the Clippers in the end.

We would be a better team, but I dislike that deal...

    Brooks needs to stay...

No, to get to Houston it requires a trade. It's the threat of leaving the Nuggets for NY in free agency where Denver gets nothing is where Melo gets all his leverage.

Yes, they can throw in Blake Griffin, Brook Lopez, Derrick Favors, or Al-Farouq Aminu... but will they? Will they throw out their young potential superstar talent for Carmelo Anthony? Personally, I don't think they will. The most likely to go would be Favors/Aminu (or even Bledsoe), but would the Nuggets be more sold on those guys than Patterson/Hill/Budinger? I'm not so sure.

The Nets won't give up Lopez, though, and the Clippers definitely won't give up Griffin. Because of that, I'm not really sure that the Nets/Clippers would put together an offer that would match the Rockets talent-wise. The Nets/Clippers have more young talent, but the Rockets have more expendable young talent.

I really doubt Billups comes with Melo. Wasn't there an article in which Melo didn't want Billups as the starter anymore, because he couldn't stand all the pull-up 3-pointers?

If Melo and Billups have bad blood between each other, I really don't see him coming to Houston but elsewhere. But I cringe with the thought of J.R. coming here. He's a headcase, and I don't want that for the Rockets.

I can't wait for this to be over, so I can just wait for the start of the season.

I like how stars finally realizing how to use their leverage suddenly makes them drunk with power. Are teams drunk with power when they ship players off for their benefit (i.e. Ariza)?

Favors' potential >>>>>>Patterson/Hill/Budinger....If NJ builds a decent package around Favors they probably become the front runners in the Melo sweepstakes.

I would be all over that deal.

    Yao/Miller
    Scola/Hayes/PP
    Melo/Chase
    Lee/Smith
    Billups/Lowry

How is that team not better?

Melo, Murphy, Harris, Lopez would for sure make the playoffs in the east and possibly upset on of the big 3. Most likely Orlando.

Maybe with the Nets, but not with the Clippers. Aminu, Kaman, and the Minny pick I think would be enough to get Melo from my perspective, and that could be a good team. The problem is that well, they're the Clippers. Why would you play for that team with its pathetic management and an owner who seriously should go jump off a cliff?

That said, how did the Clippers get that pick anyways?

That's too much. The Rockets give up the best guard duo they have had in years for an aging Billups. Nope, too much.

No, you are giving up the best guard duo for an in-prime Melo. You are receiving back a PG and SG that are still good today, and keeping some of your younger assets like Chase, PP and a Knicks pick. Plus Brooks will want a payday soon anyway.
