If its the Nets or the Clippers, it going weird how both these two teams cleared cap space for Lebron, but instead landed Carmelo Anthony...

Melo has all the leverage. Nuggets can only deal with the teams Melo is willing to sign an extension with. Any deal made will be most likely an "extend and trade".

The teams we're reading about are probably Denver's wish list and not coming from Melo. There's no benefit for Melo to make public any of his preferred destinations. For the Nuggets they do it to start a bidding war.

Johnhollinger: Here's what I don't get: Melo's people are bluffing. Get way less commission w/o that extension due to new CBA. Nugs stll w/ some leverage

OK forget Melo, I'm rooting for La La now!

I hope she makes it big in the Lifetime Channel.

Would Melo easily make back the difference with corporate sponsorship in NY?

I don't understand how the clippers even in the picture, New jersey can offer a descent package but not better than ours, this is really getting stupid.

Denver can trade Carmelo to any team they want.

But most teams won't want him unless he signs an extension and Carmelo won't sign an extension unless it's a team he wants to go to. Thus, Carmelo controls most of the proceedings.

Unless, of course, it's all about the money in which case he'll sign an extension no matter what. You could even think he'd sign one with Denver eventually.

Or make it up easily with no state income tax and Chinese sponsorship deals via Yao Ming? Or, hey, get all that AND the extension with Houston!

Actually the Clippers can offer a very great offer...

Larry Coon suggested this on 610...

Chris Kaman + Aminu + Minny 2012 pick unprotected

What package exactly are you referring to? If it becomes a bidding war, the Rockets assets are not as good as the Nets unless the Rockets give up Martin or Brooks. Even then, the package that NJ can offer is neck and neck w/ the Rockets.

if they toss in any one of the 3: Lopez, Harris, Favors its better

clippers have plenty of young talent they can send back that is just as promising in Gordon, Aminu, Unprotected Minnesota first rounder that would be a better package

the thing I dont get is that this:

if Melo is demanding a trade out because he wants to win ...why is his wife's not-so-great-entertainment-career even being considered. She was hardly getting offers from any network not named MTV or Vh1 anyway I dont think it makes a difference if he is in LA, NY, Houston, or Alaska. She isnt very talented to begin with. I wish them all the best really but its really stupid to go to a specific place just so she can hopefully make a few million while he loses out on several millions in endorsements and being able to win. (he can get endorsed in NY but i still stand that he'll get national and global recognition if he wins)

which leads me to the point of: If he does want out to win will going to NJ be a better place to win than Denver is right now? Of course not.

The Clippers could be Davis is still one of the best PGs in the NBA if he is healthy and wants to play, add in a legit center in Kaman and Blake Griffin it would be a good spot to land and he could take them to the playoffs. Would they be better than the nuggets right now? Thats debatable they very well could be but its the clippers they a) have a coach that was considered bad in most circles in Del Negro b) have one of the worst front offices in the league starting from the top in their owner and c) they just signed Brian Cook-- never a good thing

Golden State thats a new one and same with Charlotte. I dont get what GS would give up that Denver would take back. Biedrins? NO way probably the most toxic contract in the league along with turkoglu. Ellis? Why get him when they have Billups and Lawson?

Charlotte - similar situation to NJ they can send back good pieces but the team he would go to would be no better or in fact worse off than the denver team he would be leaving that he felt couldnt compete.

which means the most ideal places would be Houston and LA.

Houston would give him the best chance to win and play for a class organization.

La would allow him to win, but play for the worst sports franchise in the NBA and would also allow his wife some more opportunities, but how many?

she is not nearly the star eva longoria is and yet eva was able to still film her shows out here in LA and have tony parker stay in San Antonio. Lala can easily manage her career even if Carmello is elsewhere and they can easily live in NY/NJ/LA during the summer.

Really a lot of this nonsense - I want Melo to be a Rocket no doubt but i would rather just have this all just end already

I think the Rockets are being played. Carmelo wants glamor, and that means NY or LA.

But the good news is this.

Stars have become drunk with power, and they're going to wreck the league unless something is done about it.

I apologize for asking this stupid question, but I just don't know who this person is.

Who is John Hollinger? Is he a beat writer for the Nuggets or the Denver Post or something?

This guy is affiliated with World Wide Wes? That, his wife, and his sucker-punching are making it really hard to root for this guy. Why bother? Seems like a hassle.
