No way will I want Mason on the Rockets. He will not be good for this team. Do you wonder why Miami wants to get rid of him after one year? It is not just because they want a youth movement.
Everybody said the Barkley was going to be a cancer and Quitten was going to provide that championship leadership. Well, fricken Barkey was truely inspirational in his on-court work ethic and we all know about Quitten. Barkley carried this team on his back through certain stretches and Quitten, wel he whined. If Rudy and CD feel they could blend Mace into the mix, then more power to them. Imagine this: If Mace worked out by not causing distractions, then the Rocks would be as strong as anybody 1-4. If Cato has a breakout year, then the Rocks can play anybody in the league 1-5 (except Shaq which would be by comittee). If Cato doesn't work out, then Mace is better than Marc Jack or JWhite to fill in. It is a gamble maybe worth taking if you can sign Mace for 1 or 2 years only while Griffen develops. And if Mace blends, then it would be a genius move. Otherwise chaulk it up as another bad experiement like the Quitten trade...but one that is recognized as a "good try." At least this time you wouldn't give up half your starters to acquire him like you did for CB. By then Griffen would be ready to take over anyway. So it takes a little pressure of EG too. -krosfyah
They haven't signed him yet. I beleive he has an option to leave if he wants. Miami would like to cut his contract so they don't pay the luxery tax. -krosfyah
another starting power forward is only gonna mess up playing time for our forwards. i'm against, not even for 1-2 mills a year.
Off-court transgressions and on the court shortcomings (real or imagined) won't keep Anthony Mason off the Rockets. It is his price tag that will.
