Bari wants to be a starter, which is why he didn't already sign an extension. Next, he'll be an UFA. I love Bari but with his injury record, not sure they want to lock him in long term and kill cap flexibility. Rockets would have Alp, Adams, Capela, and you add AD on the cheap? I think you have to at least look at it.
Are you referring to Jabari or Tari? I would give up Tari, DFS, Capela and future number 2's but not Jabari
Anyone on this board know Ive been trying to trade Sengun for yrs! But I wouldn't trade him for AD. Thats just me. AD may play half a season at best. And with FVV and KD on the wrong side of 30, as well, that would be malpractice. If Washington can somehow eat a large portion of his salary, I would consider giving a future #1 in trade talks but AD just misses too much time.
Can you combine a sign-and-trade player with other players in a trade? I’m pretty sure you couldn’t do that in the past. I don’t really care for this trade, but it certainly opens up some possibilities if you can do that.
Woops, right. I meant Tari. It's an interesting idea if you can get AD on the cheap. Then load manage him. What comes to mind, however, is you gotta load up the rest of the team with shooters. The inside/outside game has to be on point for that roster to work.
AD would be great on this team. It's always good to have a Medicare expert on the team to help other players plan for the decades after basketball.
You can’t combine sign and trades with other players in a single trade, so it won’t work cap wise. If you sign Tari for 21m, you could make the trade at next year’s trade deadline. It would be an idiotic trade anyway. The only reason to take on AD is if you are receiving Frp’s in return and you would have to include Sengun or Kd as part of the package to make the money work. This is a good draft, but there is no Wemby or Flagg in it. Sengun and Jabari would be a hell of a price to pay.
I would trade Sengun and Tari in a S&T for him and maybe ask for a pick back as well. This gives you a better team around KD for his last 2 years and protects the young core. DD
A 4/5 rotation of Alp, AD, Stevo, Capela is stout. You can load manage all of them all season long. I'm not worried about AD injuries with this rotation.
I am worried. AD gets injured just walking around off the court. The Rockets already have injury issues with our current vets. AD just makes that worse.
You need to lower your expectations of AD. You don't need to rely on AD. I would see it as a low risk/high reward move. I'd think of AD as taking Jeff Geen's position. He's just an upgraded roster spot. If you can get him without giving up any 1st round picks, I don't see the harm in it.
Can do. But Given AD's salary, one should expect him to be a top 3 playoff player and not injured. If AD gets injured and misses the playoffs (a 50/50 proposition), he is not worth his salary.
For the thousandth time, sign and trades don’t work that way. It’s a terrible idea anyway, since AD can’t stay on the court. I don’t have a problem trading Sengun or Tari in separate trades, but Sengun should get a much better return than a broken down player that makes 58m this year and 62m the following year. Relying on 38 year old KD, 33 year old FVV, and a 33 year old center who has averaged less than 50 games a year for a decade is insane. We should be unloading old guys not gathering them.
Jeff Green: minimum to be team mascot Anthony Davis: $60M to sit next to Jeff Green Maybe only if Adam Silver guaranteed the #1 pick (like the Mavs/Wizards)
Look it might not work directly as described but it can be worked out to where these are the main pieces.....that is the point. DD
That's why you load manage him, which you can do with this roster. You have 1-2 years left of KD. That's your window. Does adding AD make things worse? In my mind, the worst case is it's a wash if he gets hurt again. If you can do it without mortgaging the future so after KD is gone, the young core is intact and you still have all/most of your picks, I think it's worth the risk. But yea, he's got to pass a physical. We all know the injury risk. I think it's an interesting idea at that price.
Sengun and/or Jabari is too high a price. If it was Tari, dfs and filler without draft picks it would be fine or I could live with just kd and filler then sure. If Tari is involved it will have to wait until the deadline in spite of what dd says. You have to combine salaries to match ad and you can’t combine the salary in a sign and trade. In order to trade for ad now it will be bari and filler or sengun and filler. On top of that the wizards will want a pick. The cab can’t be wished away
