Yeah, that Flacco contract killed them. Doubt they will ever make it back until he's cut.

It will hurt them later down the road, but this season, his new contract is only costing them something like $6MM.

I believe they came into this offseason with the mindset of not repeating. They already knew their heart and soul (Ray Lewis) would be retiring for sure and know they're just trying to cut cost where available while still receiving some sort of compensation.

Ed Reed could be next to leave and they do have some high priced players (Anquan) included in the mix of being traded or cut. Not sure if Vonta will be one of those on the list to go. But I'm sure this will be the first of many for them.

Great one-year pickup for the 49ers.

And my FB is blowing up about the Texans not making this move. People really don't understand the cap.

Yea I would agree most don't understand the cap, but I do think the Texans could have made that happen. Get rid of Walter and then just come up with ~$1.5 million or so by cutting someone else or restructuring someone else contract.

We all know Walter is a team favorite though.. Unfortunately.

how much space do the texans have, lets say they take a cap hit on walter, they still need inside backer and right tackle or guard. they have ol options in the draft

The problem with the Texans is that Kevin Walter's salary is anywhere close to Anquan Boldin's... this team was sooooo badly mismanaged on the way to first round supremacy it's laughable.

Disagree. Crabtree emerged as a true #1 in the 2H of the season when Kaepernick took over. Finished with 85 rec, 1105 yds, and 9 TDs

What is the net cap hit for cutting Walter and adding Boldin?

Eh, I'd take that over what we have now. A #1 and a #3 and then a bunch of scrubs.

    $123.9 Million

    This. It's sad & laughable.

People(Texans fans) should be upset. A poorly managed team.

People point to the Joseph & Manning deals a few years ago. So the Texans sign a big free agent and they're all the sudden capped out?!
