for a player, it's all about winning, so it is hard for Yao give an answer to the question of leaving or not. The only thing he is concerned is championship caliber.

Hate to think Yao will leave Houston like that which will push Rox to another round of rebuild.

no matter how, Yao will stay in houston 2010 - he is such kind of person, sort of some traditional Chinese, based on my own observation as his country folk.

next move would be RING ONLY, whether Cav or not, in his last couple of years in NBA.

I guess he will retire about age of 33-35 depending on his condition and owning ring or not.
Yao will fight gracefully for honor, but not desperately for $$$.

again, he is sort of traditional Chinese, not modern Shanghainese.

lastly, wish Moery gets some useful guys soon, and Yao bings a title to this city.

What is in that water up there in Cleveland. Let's assume for 1 second that yao wasn't "untouchable".... Your lineup assumes that we give him to you for Ben Wallace straight up? I mean last time i checked yao is under contract. First of all our bench is superior to yours, and a couple of our bench players are on par with a couple of your starters.... You getting yao and keeping your entire starting lineup in tact makes absolutely no sense. Thats like me saying

    Brooks, Lowrey
    TMac, Artest
    LeBron, Battier
    Scola, Landry
    Yao, Dorsey

Will be our rotation next preseason.....

if the Rockets don't improve next season and at least have a run at the West I could easily see Yao opting out and leaving

teams would salivate to play against that lineup. high pick n' roll would create fits for the team.

    back on topic..

The thing I don't understand with these types of threads and the angling of teams to free up money to get a star is this.

    1. the star is theoretically interested in going to another team because they "just want to win" and have been frustrated by the lack of strong enough teams being built within their current organization.

    2. for the other team to free up enough money to get the player, the roster is depleted and will take an additional one to two seasons to backfill talent around this "new core". This means that once again, the star will be on a mediocre team and the process of being a champion caliber team is rebooted. Albeit it, rebooted with maybe a more sustainable core.

for a team angling for Lebron, Wade, and to a lesser extent Bosh, this could potentially be acceptable for both the team and the player. Mainly because the player would be happy with a relo and their career's are long enough to sustain the new teams restructuring plan.

But with Yao who has been injury prone and will probably have a significantly reduced career given his height and said injuries, why would you as a player even be willing to jump? you are giving away at minimum one of your prime remaining years and possibly two. Add in that he will be in a houston uni next year and you then ask, how good will Yao be in three to four seasons? I know a team would still do it because they want the addtl revenues. But Yao seems to be smart enough to work the logic for himself. If he really just "wants to win", his best chance is with his current team.

Exactly speaking, those are the reasons why they would never be able to play together. Just because they are not in the same team now. Any team would not trade a cash cow for some so-called honor.

Yikes!!!!!!!!!!! It's getting to the point where I won't even read an article unless it has quotes from the person that actually asked the question. Cause otherwise, it has no backbone whatsoever, imo. Notice how the 2nd quote is not referred to at all by the writer of this article. The quote was literally just inserted. Did the writer at least re-read it? LOL. PLEASE tell me I'm not the only one that noticed this...what a joke....i wouldn't expect one to be perfect....perhaps that's why the 2nd quote doesn't make sense...lol. it was "accidentally" put in (as i give the writer an alibi....for what, you wonder? getting away with murder...LOL). why "murder"? lol. because this article holding zero CRED (maybe the writer has cred, but if i'm a first time reader....YEAH.) getz this thread off and popping....and it's ALL speculation.....LOL. journalism really needs to step up. even ESPN repports goofy stuff....and that's mainly because they get it from the local papuh. ***sighhhhh**** oh the joy of living in a world where you expect more....  (pissed, but it's cool).

Here's a pick-me-up (for those who need it): The bright side is, ANYONE on this thread could be a writer (if this is the quality that's being put out, lol).
