It would be an entirely different situation. It would also be a whole different situation if it was male/male or female/female. Humans are sexually dimorphic.
I'm doing a capstone research paper on this issue. Texas by far leads the nation in reported and convicted inappropriate teacher/student relationships, more than double the second highest state. It's an epidemic.
Its total convictions. But seeing as how Texas is about triple both California and Florida, it's definitely a problem.
As far as teachers? It's mostly white males, which you wouldn't think based on news stories, but it's still somewhere north of 75% white male educators. Guessing the news just loves them some attractive female teacher stories.
on a per capita basis - how do they rank. Don't forget the sheer size of texas and amount of population.
When it is high school students and young teachers...they are just too darn close in age. They are in the same generation. I remember how dumb I was still when I first graduated from college. I hate to "fake" being professional for the first few years of my career. My interests at 23 were the exact same as when I was 17 for the most part. You have more in common with a high schooler when you are in your early 20s that you do with someone 30 years old, so I can see how this stuff happens all the time. I had a good friend that coached and taught History right out of college. He said it was actually really tough to be surrounded by Junior and Senior girls all day...especially when they ACTIVELY flirted with him. He drew the line and never crossed it, but he said he could see how it is tough for young teachers, both men and women.
Thing is. . . alot of these Teachers are not the young ones . . . . Even then . . . you have to be like your friend and not cross the line Rocket River
One of my friends went to middle school with this chick. She said she was a very sweet and innocent girl. I feel bad for her.
