check out this quote here: CHRONICLE: YAO -> SPAN = NASH ? this thread is getting messy and pointless...
No, my point is that I find it more acceptable that Yao (an actual NBA player and a teammate of VMac) made a comment like that then someone like you. My point is: Yao = credibility (or understanding of why he would make a comment like that) you = no credibility
I don't think VSpan is ready to play but since we don't have any other options, JVG should start trying to develop at least what seems to be good potential. If we just continue like this and get to the playoffs, and Rafer goes down or something, we are going to be screwed big time. JVG needs to understand that players get better only with playing time.
Wow, just wow. You take the cake for one of the most ridiculous post of all time. Not only are you more knowledgeable than JVG, but according to your IQ, you are above "genius". I'm surprised the Rockets have not contacted you about a position with the team. Its funny how a man with an IQ so high that he is above genius, has so many grammar problems? You threw in a run-on sentence and you start of a sentence with, "MI (me?) think it was Alexander.....". Yup, what a genius! Why not stick to your word you made in another thread? http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=2554453&postcount=188
We play a short rotation. We lost one player, therefore we added one player. Neither Lucas nor Head played poor enough to warrant any time for V-Span -- Lucas actually played pretty efficiently for his minutes. No issues.
Don't forget to add it didn't win the other games we've won. Your haterade flavor wouldn't be complete until you say that. Now say it!
It says no such thing. If you have AI, yes, you can forgive turnovers. If you have VSpan, no, you cannot. There is no way VSpan should be commanding the ball as much as Yao or TMac in this offense. Hence, there is no way you can forgive his miscues as you can a Lebron, Kobe, TMac, etc. who add so much more to the team than VSpan does. So, no, you cannot isolate one stat and say "hey, ignore his turnovers because these other guys have high turnovers and they do great". Do y'all lose common sense when you put on your JVG hate hats every day? Seriously.
' D.o.D, I am saying it shows that players with high turnovers can still be significant contributors to a winning basketball team. I think V-Span will have to limit his turnovers, but will probably ALWAYS average a bit more because of his passing nature. But if he gets 8 assists and 3 turnovers a game, people would be ok with that. DD
You agreeing with Yao is like William Hung (you) agreeing with Colin Farrell about the topic of getting laid with superhot chicks. One person (Farrell/Yao) has firsthand knowledge on the topic where he can get away with a little BSing and exaggeration (ie. Vmac to Nash), while the other (Hung/you) is kinda taken with a large bag of salt. For the record Yao said this: ONE DAY, VMac could be as good as Nash. ONE DAY. And yesterday wasn't that day, or the next day, or the rest of the days this season. Someone needs to tell Vmac what rookies usually do in an NBA team, especially in a JVG team: SIT. Like Nash set the world on fire in his rookie year, he sat behind KJ and Kidd in his first 2 years. It ain't gonna happen for Vmac this year.
... and I am saying, yes, they can be significant contributors if they contribute something. lol. Here's a homework assignment for you. Go to NBA.com and view this page : http://www.nba.com/statistics/player/Turnovers.jsp That's a list of players with the most TO's per game. Sort it by TO/game. Now tell me from that list of players, which players with a high TO/game average EuroMac is close to in talent or contribution. I think Rafer was 41, so let's leave him out because everyone thinks he's better than him, right? If you cannot find players with 3.0 or greater TO's/game to which EuroMac compares favorably, then your point is blown and so is the bastardization of John Wooden's quote by Lord High Intellect in his previous post.
It's not fair to use this stats since he barely gets a chance to play. Why don't we consider his stats in the euroleague. You'll be surprised to see his impact defensively as well.
Spanoulis is a lot more like Steve Francis than Steve Nash. Not to say he's as good as Francis was, but his game (an undersized scoring oriented guard, not much of an outside shooter) is a lot closer than to Nash (a point guard who can run a team, who takes care of the ball, and is a deadeye shooter from outside). Quite honestly, Yao comparing him to Steve Nash ranks up there with Les Alexander deeming the 2002-03 Rockets "One of the great teams ever assembled" Sometimes being close to things impairs one's judgment rather than helps.
Let's use common sense here. There's no way Vspan can be compared to AI or Wade because of high trunovers.
Should Billy take over the starting PG job? Of course not. Should Billy play more than 3 minutes when you dont have a starting PG? Absolutely. BTW, Lucas played 221 minutes total and had 95 FGA.(average 2.32 minutes per attempt) Rafer played 1674 minutes and had 601 FGA.(average 2.78 minutes per attempt) Billy played 188 minutes and had 49 FGA.(average 3.83 minutes per attempt) So who can tell me, is Lucas playing SG for this team?
