Oski2005, I speak for the majority when I saw, WE sure are glad you dont decide the future of the Rockets.

If you did we would be stuck in the doldrums of mediocity, doomed to never leave the lottery.

I hope you don't speak for a majority because that would mean everybody else here can't have an intelligent and legit conversation about Ming without a personal attack. I at least read everything people counter my arguments with, you don't even have a clue what you're talking about so you just try to shoot me down instead of my argument. I don't mind being proven wrong, it just hasn't happened yet. So far people have been trying to by giving me well thought out views and analysis and I respect them for that. You have a lazy mind so you just say "f%!$ it, Oski2005 is dumb, me smart" Well done, I love when stupid people try to pick on me.

Actually Oski2005, I have read all your comments on Ming and I arrived at the conclusion that you are a pestimestic person...PERIOD

You have mentioned EVERYthing negative about Ming you could possibly think of, and I know good and well you have NEVER seen him play, I havent seen him play!

I think you need to chill and get your finger out of your butt, you must be the rudest person on this entire board, I wouldnt care if I never read another one of your pestimestic threads, that intangle our Rockets into being a slightly better version of the Clippers.

I'm rude? Hey, you started this. Last time I checked, I havn't gone out of my way to put somebody down because they disagreed with me, until you of course. I may have only been a member on this board a few more months than you, but in that time I have seen people who are actually rude when it comes to their posts (nugzfan anybody?). Maybe I am a pessimist because I have said I hope I'm wrong about my thoughts on Ming, but I know I'm not rude and I take offense to that because I've always been a soft spoken and courteous person. During my time on this board I can't think of a time that I was rude to the pro Ming people and I hope one of them will come out and say "yeah, I don't agree with what he says at all, but he hasn't been rude, except to Sofine81." I can't believe I'm even having this stupid BBS fight so this is the last time I'll respond to you. If you don't want to read my threads, that's cool, if you want to say truce, I'm game for that too, either way, I don't want to keep on going with this silly a$$ argument.

ya'll chill. Sofine, that's a little harsh. How was Oski2005 rude? Nevermind, think what you must.

Oski2005, I wouldn't get bent out of shape. The 'Ming' certainly raises many questions, but there are no definitive limits to his upside at all. People have high hopes and some will lash-out at balloon-busters.

Look guys Im very sorry, I guess this being a fan thing brings out the worst in some people, and I guess Im one of the them.

I was way out of line, and caught up in the moment, Well thank you.

I just hate to see us throw away a great pick for role-players and puzzle pieces, and the very thought of my team being the Clippers #2 drives me crazy.

well like I said Im sorry and Im done maring the name of Sofine81 for the evening...just remember guys Im young :D and young = dumb (in most cases)

I'm a dreamer. When I think of the #1 pick, I can't help but think about guys like Dream and Shaq. I wish so much that a player like them was in this draft when we have the #1 pick. I don't have a problem with who Ming is as a player, it's more about who he isn't. He might be the #1 in this draft, but I feel he is a Kandi or Kenyan Martin type of pick, good but not great players. That's probably why I feel it is better to upgrade our other positions and put more depth on the bench. My philosophy might be flawed, but I'm a fan and all I want is to see this team win some more championships.

Well said, but I pray if they do pick Ming we will win, but I also pray that if the powers that be choose to trade the pick that we will be successful.

I think we here are all fans and when you bring this many fans together you have to expect heads to butt!

But thats ok, it shows we are all passionate people, it shows even the fans have heart!

The more I think about it, I guess the reason I'm not on the Ming band wagon is because I feel having Odom on this team would make us more entertaining than having Ming. I guess in my mind, a 7'5" guy hitting jumpers is a novelty act. When I think of Odom, I see him as the closest player in the NBA that there has ever been to Magic Johnson. 6'10", can score, can pass, and can rebound. If you guys check out Odom's games, you'll find plenty of Magic type of plays. He's no Magic, but he's close. I think that's why Francis and Mobley would like to have Odom, as much as they want to win, they also love the game because it is fun and they feel having Odom on the team would be fun for them. Injury problem, it was a sprained wrist, that can heal. Off the court problems, if you were a Clipper, wouldn't you want to toke up so that you could forget that fact? I also feel it would be easier to get Odom to kick the habbit than it would be to keep China from screwing us.

That is ridiculous. If you pick a #1 and he isn't Michael Jordan - then you failed??? Give Ming a break.

P.S. Lots of #1 picks didn't get it done and #1 is NO GUARANTEE and never has been.

Kandi, Kwame, Joe Smith and lots of others went #1 also - they should work into your equation as well. If there is any logic to it.

Barring injuries I think Ming will do very well.

P.S. Oski, its obvious you a an Odom lover. I'm sure you love his 65% free throw shooting, 3.3 turnovers and 19% 3pt shooting will also be a joy to watch. Odom is not that great and has a long way to go.

Ok, which is it? Are you concernced about winning championships or do you just want to be entertained? Yao gives us a better shot at a championship and apparently Odom provides you more entertainment.

If you just want to see entertaining basketball and your not concerned that much about wins and losses, then fine, that's all you had to say, you didn't have to try to manufacture reasons that Yao will be a bust. I, myself, find being a championship contender very exciting, regardless of the style of play. Our '94 team played ugly, but that was a great ride. If your basic argument is that you prefer Odom, because you'd rather watch him play, then I can respect that. Of, course if we're going for sheer entertainment value, then I'll argue that we should sign Angelina Jole. Heck, she might be one of the few people in the world that actually looks good in those pinstriped jammies.

I didn't say we couldn't win a championship with Odom, I just meant that in the years that this team will develope I would rather watch an already experienced Odom as opposed to waiting for Ming to learn the NBA game. I don't believe Ming makes us an instant playoff team, but any deal where we get Odom and Kandi for the right price does. And I do believe that in the end, Odom will have had a far more productive career than Ming.

p.s. superkev, what i like about Odom is his 16 ppg 7 rbg 5 apg 1 spg and 1 bpg career numbers. Yeah his TO are high, but they're lower than Francis'. They are also lower than Jason Kidd's (3.5) and a little higher than Tim Duncan's (3.2). Magic Johnson had a career avg of 3.87 TO, I guess he sucked too:confused: Also, if you had a sprained wrist, your shooting percentage would be pretty bad too I imagine.

    Ok, now we're getting somewhere!

Nothing personal, but you should have made this argument from the start.

The next Magic (potentially), or the next... well, there really isn't a player to compare Ming to. That's a hard decision to make, no doubt.

A couple of months ago, I would have voted Odom without a second thought, but I'm starting to come around to the idea of Ming being a Rocket.

In the long run, simply, Ming could bring more to the table than Odom. Nevermind the size or the shot, if Ming develops as hoped and expected, he brings something even more important than 7'5", 300lbs or even being the next Magic: BALANCE.

I know I'm going off topic and this is going to be corny, but I need an excuse to laugh: The last time there was talk about somebody bringing Balance was a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. You know, Anakin Skywalker, dude who destroyed the republic and put the empire in power. I guess that means we have to wait for Ming's son to win us a championship.

I've only heard CD, RT, the attorney, and one other guy (I think in communications) are going. They said they may not even see Ming. It doesn't look like they're getting a medical exam as well...at least not by their people.
