I probably am talking about his Memorial house. It is in one of those villages around Piney Point and Memorial, near Memorial High School.

Yeah, he has a place up here in Bentwater on Lake Conroe too. He works out up here and he lets me watch him and his trainer so I get high dollar pointers. He is really nice if you are chatting with him but his kids I hear are spoiled rotten. One thing I will say about Roger is that the dude wakes up to work out at six in the morning in the off season so you know he is a warrior.

As a rule I tip based on effort and best interest . Guys who get the best tips are in order:

    Caddy
    waiter
    bartender
    stripper/ 'escort'
    doorman
    barber
    valet

I'm sorry but if you want bigger tips get one of those jobs.

You should put top less bar manger on the top of that list, and then stripper. There's no way a Caddy makes more than we do.

Robert Horry is cheap too. My gf's grandmother owns a chinese rest. in Hou and he came in, my gf asked for an autograph and he said, "if you give me free food"

As far as Roger Clemens's kids go they're aren't so bad. I did the safety class for one of their birthday parties at the Texas Rock Gym. They were about as bratty as your average kid.

    It's ironic you say that...

I have a friend who was a waiter at Saltgrass, and he said that Clemens gave him a tip of 100 bucks.

I remember waiting in line to get Robert Horry to sign some cards during I think his rookie year. I knew someone on the Rockets' umm... let's say... payroll, that he dated. When it came time for me to get my autographs I said, "say, do you know Bettina Boominbottom?" (not the real name I asked him, of course), and he smiled and said, "Yeah, you know her?", I said "yeah" and we talked about something else that I forget. Anyway, I get back to Bettina Boominbottom later and she says something like "oh yeah, he told me about being late to that card signing. I asked him how much he was making for showing up and he said {several hundreds}. He said it was chump change and some spending money".

You'd think a guy that thinks {several hundreds} was chump change and some spending money could pay for some chinese food. :D

I disagree somewhat with this. Think about all the things you would do if you won the lottery. Giving better tips is undoubtedly not one of them. I'm not saying that the tip was crappy - it was. I always tip over 15%, etc. I just think there are bad tippers and good tippers out there.

As long as we're spreading dirt about athletes...

When I worked at Enterprise, Calvin Murphy rented a car with cash for his daughter out at Bill Heard. She got behind on the deposit and we couldn't get hold of him or her. Then one day the car was returned overnight all torn up and with a $400 balance due.

Calvin is on the "do not rent" list.

Do you get 1/2 min. wage like a waiter? I don't get pizza delivered because to me it is not worth the (possible) delivery charge plus tip. I can drive 5 minutes on my own, get my pizza faster, and keep the money.

if i won the lottery i would build a solid gold hot tub and fill it w/ rubies and gold and swim naked thru it all along laughing "its mine! all mine! ha ha ha"

this would cost alot of money, but i would absolutely make sure to set enough aside so that i can give pizza delivery guys more than 85 cents.

I drove delivery when I was in college, and drivers get above minimum + tips and when I did it you also got a commission of a buck or buck fifty per delivery. I dont know if they still do commission but drivers do make more than your average fast food employee. But think about the downsides...you have to use your own car, pay your own gas, at risk of getting beaten or robbed..wear and tear on your car adds up also.

Since I used to work delivery, I know how tough it is, so I always tip 2 bucks plus..more if it gets to me quicker than they say..and the pie is still hot.also, if you open the box(always do that before you pay them) and check to make sure the pie isnt all smushed or jammed up against the side of the box...which tells you that the driver wasnt careful with your order on the way there.

Also, I dont believe that the major chains charge delivery charges..I know for a fact that Pizza Hut doesnt..

be nice to the drivers guys...it is a b**** of a job sometimes..

Could you name me an athlete or two that are former OU athletes now playing who can rival his credentials?

...I'll save you some time... No.

...and yes, from what we know about this situation, your comment is accurate.

    mduke,

I do not get in here that often, but where have you been? Congrats on the pre-season ranking, it will be interesting to see if they can hold on to it. There were some big losses from last year.

Not to derail this thread or jump on you, but I just can't stand when people throw phrases like warrior around about athletes, especially because they get up a 6 in the morning during the off season to work out. Big f***ing deal! He's paid millions, he ought to try to stay in shape and he's got nothing else to do during the day so what's so special about him waking up early to work out. Hell, I wish I could wake up at 6 to work out instead of having to go to work 50 weeks out of the year.

    WERD!!!!!!!

I think everybody should have at least one REAL, I'm working this job cuz I have to, service job. Maybe then peopel would treat waiters and delivery guys and salespeople with a little more respect.
When my wife and I go out, we tip 15% minimum, pizza guys get 3-4 bucks minimum. We even pre-bus our own table to help out. Do it once at a restaurant you frequent and see how much better service you get next time.

Well hell, If I was them and it was the off-season...I wouldnt wake up till 7-8 and then work out all day till 7 at night..screw getting up at 6 am..

I hate doing that and I do it for a measly 12 bucks an hour now..if I got paid a lot more..I would get another hour or two of sleep at least.

    ;)
