It is not going to be a tournament (if it were, it would be no-limit) it is going to be a cash game. We will start in the early afternoon (1-2) and wind up in the early evening (6-8).
So i read the explanations of "String Betting" and i have to say i still dont get it. Can it be explained again? So from what i read - You shouldnt say "i call your bet, and raise you another 50" I thought that was good because then the opponent knows how much extra he has to place in the pot to keep playing. I think i understand it to be when the player (when betting) goes "i bet 20..... (places stack in the pot).....40 (places another stack in).....60(places another stack in)" Is that what it means? And tell me again what is so bad about it

All you have to say is "Raise" or "Call" but it is bad form to say "Call and Raise". If you are raising, just say "Raise" and then gather up the chips that you will be placing out there. You will often see people call "Raise" place the amount of chips to call first and then in a separate stack place the amount of chips they are raising and either say "20 more" or "40 total" or "40 to go". "to go" tells the players after you the total amount they have to call to stay in. The main objection to string betting is that the dealers, casinos, and fellow players want to know in a single action what you intend to do. Just call or Raise.
