Andymoon - Where do you live in Clear Lake? I live by the Randalls on Clear Lake City Blvd. Also my friends and I play NL $10 buy-ins with $.10 and $.20 blinds since we're college students so we don't have that much money either. If you just play your game, it is to your advantage if other players don't care about money and just goes all in every time. Are you set on playing pot limit? Stack24 - Where is your tournament? Can you give me directions coming from Clear Lake? Thanks.
It's at my bar Live Sports Cafe www.livesportscafe.com 407 Main Street there are directions on the website for it. Registration is at 12 pm Noon
I live in Meadowgreen. My house backs up to El Camino Real directly across the street from the field at Clear Lake Intermediate. Pot limit is what my friends expect. I am not married to it for future games, but I have already announced this to everyone. Besides, if you are playing pot limit, the pot gets big enough to include everything you have in front of you pretty quickly. If you are going to have a game this weekend, I would be interested in playing if I can get an invitation.
Those of you complaining about pot limit, have you ever actually played that way? While the all-in drama isn't there as often, I liked it when we played that way. The action seemed to be higher. People were constantly betting and raising the pot. I think it's a great way to play poker. As far as tournaments go, if you want a REALLY fun tournament, play an Omaha tournament. They're short, and very high stakes.
I've played pot limit, and I don't like it as much because it makes it harder to bluff someone out of a pot that they are somewhat invested in.
Not really, you just have to start the bluff earlier to get the pot bigger. There have been relatively few pots in the games I have had where one could not go "all-in" at the river.
Yea, but then you also set a cap on what you charge your opponents to buy the next card. Good: If you got it, it's sure money. Bad: If they buy all the way to 5th with nut in hand, then you're screwed.
No they started charging on saturdays as well but the lot next to us never has anyone out there on saturdays unless there is an astros game and most people park there and never have a problem.
I'm actually out of town this weekend which pissed me off whe i found out it was this weekend..now i have to wait till the next regional.
I wasn't talking about bluffing. If I already have two pair on the board come flop, or even 4th, and it's no limit, and I know someone is buying a card, I'm going to make it expensive. But with pot limit, I can't make it that expensive.
We don't play at my house anymore. When I go play with my friends, I drive all the way down to highway 90 and murphy, so I don't know if you want to go that far. I usually don't know if I'm going to be playing until an hour before the game starts. My friends are just random and never plan anything haha. What time does your tournment start?
Do you have to be 21 to play in it? BTW, I think my friends go to your place every Saturday. Now I know what they're talking about when they say "We're going to Live!".
No you don't have to be 21 to play in the tournament but i am sure if you make it any farther and get to a high level then you would hav eto be 21...granted if you win it all lol
