While I suspect part of the "TOs are Killing Us" threads are partially anti-Lin threads, but ignoring that, TOs are frustrating (lost scoring opportunities, often lead to opponents scoring) but given the offensive approach (push the ball all the time) you have to expect (and accept) we will have more TOs. What does frustrate me is the lack of effort on the boards. When your starting PF gets one rebound, you got troubles. Worse, the opposing team gets multiple shots at the basket, and usually the second (and third) shots are point blank inside the paint. I don't buy the "Asik gets all the rebounds the PF would get" excuse, since Parsons regularly outrebounds our starting PFs. Patterson lost his starting job (partly due to injury, but also due to lack of effort on the boards), and now Morris is loafing on the outside, watching the action. Morris is further hurting the team on the offensive end (his shot last night was way too flat... even on FTs). Hopefully Jones or Donuts are developing since we need to improve the four spot.
haha, that's a good one - to pray for an explanation. Don't drop the tablets or iPad when you come down from the mountain.
You suspect correctly. It is anti-Lin - that's why the OP did not say Harden had the game high 7 TO's and Lin had 5 PO's last night, but instead combining the numbers from the Laker's game (that we won!) just so Lin's number looks worse than Harden's. With that said, however, Lin is the PG and I do expect him to take care the ball better. He will learn and so will Harden. By the way, anybody remember our preseason records? What teams did we beat and lose to? Thanks I am too lazy to dig.
In both Harden and Lin's defence some TOs were on account of the horrible refereeing (e.g. Harden's pushed out of bounds TO and Lin's "Charge" TO). That being said, no more lazy passes. I don't mind the football passes. It's a concern that I think will go down with time.
We have some really bad turnovers. A bounce pass to Asik when he is surrounded by defenders is not smart. Driving the lane and then jumping up in the air without a clear idea of what you want to do with the ball is not wise. We are going to have some turnovers on the fast break, but the turnovers in the half court game is killing us.
it's bad. Both should not pass to asik, leave that to the guy that truly gets asik, carlitos. Harden should not try to split 3 defenders and lin needs to anticipate better, which for most of the season he has done well. But if they get 8 steals between the 2 of them, 2 more turnovers isn't the end all, be all
Coach needs to sit out Lin and Harden more in the 2nd b2b games from now on, I observed they don't have much energy in the 2nd game of b2b, many times this season. Why let Lin play 42 minutes? He needs only play 24 minutes at most last night.
The Rockets have the highest TOV%. Followed by the Thunder, Spurs, and Warriors. Of course fewer TO would be better, but it's not that significant.
This really wasn't meant to be a anti-Lin thread. It's more anti-turnover. Lin just happens to be one of the three players with the most.
Revisionist history. You forgot to mention that the Kings were 55-27 in 00-01 with Jason Williams as their starting PG. Their TO rate was 13th that year, about league average. BTW, that team ranked 7th on defense. So much for the "Adelman doesn't coach defense" myth.
that's what happens when you play fast. Will people feel better if they turn it over less because they play slow and have fewer possessions?
Turnovers are overrated. Half the turnovers last night was due to offensive charges or aggressive play. High risk, high rewards. I'll take aggressive harden and Lin anyday than low TO passive guards. Keep the football passes coming. I love it. Sure it doesn't work sometimes but it's almost an automatic bucket when it works. Those passes are what this team is about. To stop them is to regress. We know our identity now and to reign it in now is stupid. This is off the top of my head, but it seems like with high turnover Lin games, we won most of them.
Harden TO Ratio - 11.8 Lin TO Ratio - 15.0 Not an anti-Lin comment, just the truth. People still get hung up on the raw number rather than the ratio. The whole team has been bad with TO's but for a PG Lin has been really bad. That being said, just about everyone on the team needs to improve.
Seriously, the Rockets did not lose the game purely on TOs....they loss it because they were shoot bricks in the 4th. Minus the defense, Rockets should have pull all the starters out and let the 2nd unit run as I'm sure they can score more than 20 points.
