    Tell me about it:

You are not eligible for an upgrade at this time. You are not eligible to add a new line at this time. We can only modify individual postpaid plans in your name. We will not be able to make changes to your plan if you have a family, shared, corporate, "Pay as You Go", or "Even More Plus" plan. You can still purchase the phone without T-Mobile service.

Google needs to lower the price to say 250-300. Tmobiles 3g sucks and is not worth 80 bucks a month. You can get an iphone at that price.

Are you joking? T-Mobile actually has one of the better 3G networks in terms of speed. You mention the Iphone. T-Mobile's 3G speed blows AT&T away, at least in my experience in the Houston area.

I think in general most ratings have T-Mobile and AT&T as pretty even, with AT&T usually faster. Still both are pretty fast.

Coverage, of course, is a different issue.

iPhone. I hope you're not implying I was touting the iPhone over any Android device...lol. I've been interested in Android, but generally every phone until now has been fairly underpowered.

Nexus One / Droid change that.

All these threads should be called "XX Phone ATTEMPTED Iphone Killer" just because there hasn't been one to really kill it yet.

Got the G1 in oct 08, so I'll be waiting till oct this year to upgrade. With the way things have been going, it will probably free with a 2 year deal by then.

It's not really about being an iPhone killer. Despite everyone labeling every phone that.

    The way I see it...

    1. Apple blew everyone away by giving people stuff they hadn't seen before, but held back on a LOT of simple things, to release them later as a new update/phone. (3G, MMS, Copy paste, to name a few)

    2. They were able to coast this whole time, but I think they've finally reached a point where they can no longer coast, as these new phones have started to incorporate many features the iPhone brought along, PLUS stuff the iPhone should have had from day one (good camera, FLASH, Video)

    3. (future) Apple will have to release a new phone this summer that is another big step up like the original iPhone was to the cell market.

Apple changed the game, became complacent, and now others are starting to catch up/surpass Apple. It's up to Apple to step up again.

Only thing the iPhone has that others don't is the amount of apps. As for the Android OS, it's catching up quickly. With Android, you actually have a choice. For apple, there is only one phone and one phone only. Although a very good one. If you want a fully touch screen phone with no hard keyboard, Android has that. If you prefer the slide out keyboard and not the on-screen, they have those too. Also the fact that Android phones are available on more than one carrier, will help them expand even more.

Actually, I read somewhere the growth of the Apple App Store grew more than the Android App Market over the last year.

I definitely want to join Android. I was an early adopter with the G1, but didn't like the keyboard on it. Once I started using the iPhone and got a taste of the apps, I haven't looked back. I'm waiting on some good reviews on this device and some hands on time before I decide if I want to switch. One thing I did enjoy about Android was the Notification drawer on the top. If Android can start bringing better and comparable apps, a switch for me would be faster.

Not sure if Apple got complacent, but they shook things up with the iPhone and now we can all hope they get shaken up by Google having success in the "smartphone" market. It isn't good for consumers when one company is too successful vs others. The thought of Apple and Google fighting in a long-term heavyweight match is awesome. These so-called "frienemies" need to go ahead and become full-fledged enemies who are after each other's throats.

For 2010, the Android app market is supposed to grow much faster than Apple's App store but it will still remain a lot smaller because Apple dwarfs it now.

^I agree. Microsoft laid a big turd by letting Windows CE/Mobile go to waste.

Apple sped up the American smartphone market considerably. Customers everywhere should be thankful.
