I totally agree with you sometime changes have to be made but as you stated selfish people are going to stop what needs to be done.

    White kid shoots up school...crickets.

    Black kid shoots up school...ARGGGGGGG!!!!

Instead of addressing the issue of bail reform and gun control they rather just tweet about bullshit with no plans to solve anything. The Republican way...

White kid shoots up school, suicides when or before police arrive.
Black kid shoots up school, released on minimal bail.
There should either be pretrial detention or not. The idea of bail was good at its inception, but with the creation of the bail bondsman who assumes the risk on behalf of the bailee and accepts as little as 1% of the nominal bail, the system is broken. There should be no bail bondsmen and bail should be cash or property only. In my courts the bail is essentially meaningless as the bail bondsmen accept token payments, pay the defendant's bail, and then when the defendant absconds, get their money back when the defendant is eventually returned to court, even though they played no part in the defendant's return. Essentially, the bail bondsman is accepting 1-10% of the nominal bail to lose access to the nominal bail amount for a while. There is no longer real skin in the game.

The problem with that logic is that it favors those with wealth or property. A rich kid's parents can put up cash for their psycho son's killing spree.

So what? People need skin in the game. Bail in California is people pay a bail bondsman 1-10% of their nominal bail which they never get back no matter what they do. The bail bondsman gets their money back in almost every case (even if the people abscond, they get their money back if they fugitive is returned to custody, whatever the reason). Bail is supposed to be an incentive to return to court. If returning to court makes no difference to you vis-à-vis the money you put up for bail, it is not serving its purpose.

What crickets? We're going on 25 years with these stories all the way back to Jonesboro. I think the news media decide for some reason that black shootings only get reported with cops, and white ones at school, like '50s radio stations inventing "rock and roll" along side rhythm & blues.

kid was bullied no doubt about it, same **** happened to me at waltrip high school in 2004.. i ended up having enough and broke this dudes ortibal bone. I thought i would only be suspended for 3 days, Next thing i know im in handcuffs and being charged at 14 with assault and bodily injury. They then sent me to CEP( not sure what its called now) for 45 days instead of 180 because my grades were really good. I ended up losing my athletic career over that ****. My thing is its always two sides to a story, when i was in cuffs i think it even made the news back then.. But everybody thought just because i was black and he was white that i was a thug and he was an angel( watching his mom cry that i blinded her son) was pathetic because she described her son as a good kid who would never bully anyone( which was bullshit),

As for myself yes i was a violent kid i even caused my 2nd grade teacher to have a miscarriage because i threw a desk at her. I dont know why i was violent and would look to fight any and everyone. It was honestly my mom buying me a gameboy pocket( with pokemon blue) and a super nintendo that got me to not wanna fight people anymore. Honestly other than a few seperate fights in elementary i never really bullied people in middle school and up until the incident with that kid my freshman year. I was an introvert, to the point where i almost never raised my hand in class(even if i knew the answer the to the question). When I was 17 i was diagnosed with SAD( Social Anxiety Disorder). The meds they had me on, really helped with controlling my temper. I still till this day tho try to avoid conflict whenever possible, not because im scared.. but because i know i what im capable of.

A lot of kids in school nowadays are indoctrinated in full blown liberalism, all liberals do is bully people who they feel wont fight back. Look at how they go after go at these kids( which sometimes leads to school shootings and manifesto). All the media does is show you what happened after the fact, they never discuss why the kid did it.

If you want to make a celebrity type thing, look at how the media shames james harden and jameis winston.. two guys who are damn good but always slighted. I have no idea how they are able to answer questions from the media when they know the media hates them and is just trolling them for a clip to say and try and make it go viral

I dont know how timothy was able to reach bail, but for me my mother had to beg this old white judge not to send me to the Texas Youth Commision. Or JJAEP( aka the brown school)

I'm not disagreeing with that. My point is that there should be limits to bail, rich or not. It shouldn't just be some kid with wealthy parents getting bail if you say let them pay cash. That just gives rich kids or adults a break. No armed shooter, terrorist, or machete hacking crazy man caught in the act or chased down fleeing the scene after their violent rampage should get bail, period! Make it simple. The problem is that we have so damn many violent offenders in this country the courts are backed up forever for a court date. We put far too many non-violent types in jail and let too many very dangerous people out on bond.

Nobody caught in the act of one of these school shootings or rampages should get 3 years for lawyers to work up a case to get them free when they are caught in the act and on camera. That's a total waste of taxpayer dollars.

That's what I was initially thinking too, though if that was the case I would expect them to mention it. Apparently 7 or 8 shots were fired at the classmate? Not sure what his condition is, now, but it would appear the shots were not fired with an intent to kill him.

Winston and Harden are radically different in terms of their relative position in their sports. Harden is an MVP caliber player. Winston is a middling quarterback. He has all the physical tools, but hasn't been able to put it together. My team swapped him out for Brady and won the Super Bowl immediately and looks like one of the favorites again. Maybe Jameis ends up putting it all together and turns into a great quarterback, but as of now he is not in the same type of tier as Harden.

How many QBs do you know that have their best QBR at 66 and are considered an MVP candidate? Do you think the 2019 season was a positive one for Jameis? He threw 30 interceptions and the Bucs were under .500 and got rid of him. Only 12 players have had five thousand yard seasons, but if you throw enough you can put up big numbers. Putting up 5000 yards and going 7-9 and not getting a new contract offer doesn't say a lot for a QB. As a Bucs fan, I am thrilled that they signed a 43 year old Tom Brady instead of a 26 year old Jameis Winston.

every qb has an outlier season. Favre threw 29, Peyton had 28 and 26 in separate seasons, Eli had 27 2x, Big Ben had 25

winston prior to 2019 had never thrown more than 18 in a season lol. Why are black qbs expected to be elite every season. They do the same thing to Lamar Jackson… where every throw they make is under a microscope. Meanwhile after starting out fast wentz and darnold have regressed and the media is silent

also the 30 Winston threw in 2019 wasn’t even a bucs single season record.

This happened over the weekend. This follows a running gun battle last week in downtown Minneapolis where a car crashed killing a bystander riding a scooter.

3 Men Arrested After ‘Hellish’ Mass Shooting At St. Paul Bar Leaves 1 Dead, 14 Injured

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A woman is dead, 14 people are injured and three men are in custody after a mass shooting early Sunday morning near downtown St. Paul.

Dozens of gunshots erupted just after midnight at the Seventh Street Truck Park, just down the block from Xcel Energy Center. Police said multiple 911 callers “frantically begged for help” moments after the attack.

MORE: ‘Horrific’: Minnesota Officials React To Mass Shooting At St. Paul Bar

A person close to the woman who died identified her as Marquisha Wiley, and described her as a “magnetic” young woman who was “bright, joyful and supportive.”

The other victims were taken to area hospitals for treatment, and are expected to survive. Good Samaritans worked with police to help victims while paramedics made it to the scene.

“I can only describe it as hellish,” St. Paul police spokesperson Steve Linders said. “I think about the young woman who died. One minute she’s having a good time, the next minute she’s lying in her friends’ arms who are trying to save her life, and she didn’t make it. I can’t think of anything worse.”

Police Chief Todd Axtell tweeted Sunday that he spoke with the family of the woman who was killed and they are “absolutely devastated.”

“We will bring justice to the victims,” he promised at the time.

    The Preliminary Investigation

Three suspects are in custody. WCCO has learned at the time of the shooting one of them had an active warrant for his arrest. According to documents, he failed to show up for a sentencing hearing in May. The suspects have not yet been charged, so WCCO is not naming them. Two are convicted felons with lengthy criminal histories.

Investigators worked for more than 16 hours, combing through the complicated scene. WCCO has learned forensic teams collected casings from the many shots fired, documented where the bullets struck walls and objects. They also gathered evidence like clothing and dusted for fingerprints. Investigators obtained surveillance video from cameras in the area. It’s an expansive and complicated scene that required multiple St. Paul Police Department homicide investigators.

Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher was also at the scene Sunday afternoon. He told WCCO the motive for the shooting is still unclear.

“It’s a horrifying, tragic event,” Fletcher said. “It appears to be anger, hostility, argument, fight and gun.”

Fletcher stopped in the area Friday night during his “Live on Patrol” segment on Facebook. His dash cam captured large groups of people in the area, and he expressed his concern.

“We’ve never had any shots fired here, I hope we never do. But with this volume it’s going to happen at some point right? It’s becoming a very popular place,” Fletcher said on Facebook Friday.

Police call this an open and active investigation. It’s possible more people were involved, so more arrests are possible.

Jack Larson, 22, said he came to the bar for fun with friends on what felt like a normal Saturday night. He remembered how quickly it all happened — he said it felt like it transpired in just 30 seconds. He told WCCO he heard five or six gunshots, then a pause before more gunfire. He came back Sunday afternoon looking to retrieve his phone that he left inside.

One person next to him was shot in the leg, and he was positioned in a way that “blocked the bullet from hitting me in the chest or the head,” Larson said. He recalled his friend applying pressure to another individual shot. He left the bar with blood that was not his own stained on his clothes.

“I’m shook up, I’m not going to lie. It’s not every day that you’re in a bar that gets shot up,” Larson said. “I’m just, I’m thankful that I’m OK. All my friends are OK. I’m trying to swallow it all — it’s still fresh.”

Lucas Knutson lives above Seventh Street Truck Bar, and said he was about to go to sleep when he heard gunshots below. He looked outside his window to find people flooding the street. He recalled seeing four or five people crying for help as they carried out a woman to an ambulance.

“It was kind of surreal,” Knutson said. “I’ve never seen anything like that in real life outside of TV.

Knutson said the area is pretty peaceful, and doesn’t usually experience violence like this.

The Ramsey County Attorney’s Office said if they get the case from police by Monday morning, that charges could come as soon as Monday afternoon.

Witnesses Recount The Shootout And Aftermath

Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, and were still processing what happened hours later. Demarco Percy dropped to the floor with everyone else inside Seventh Street Truck Park.

“It was just gunshots. It was like maybe 10 shots,” Percy said. “As you look around, everyone’s on the ground like, ‘I’m hit! I’m hit!’ There’s a couple people who were hit. You’re kind of checking yourself making sure you’re OK.”

Demarco says Marquisha Wiley was shot right next to him. In those unspeakable moments, Demarco’s mind went immediately to his three young children.

“I was thankful. Two inches to the left, two inches to the right, it could’ve been someone else. I’m thankful it wasn’t me,” he said. “Prayers to the family that lost someone, and prayers to the people sitting in the hospital right now.”

MORE: ‘I’ve Never Seen Anything Like This’: St. Paul Business Owners Worry Mass Shooting Will Drag Down Recent Gains

Unable to sleep last night, one thing at least brought some solace to Demarco is that three suspects have been arrested.

“My partner has been here 14 to 15 years. She can’t think of anything like this happening in St. Paul,” Demarco said. “People deserve justice. Someone lost their life, so hopefully they’re able to sort it out and decide who was the one that got the killing done so they can lock that person up for a long time.”

Demarco was here celebrating a friend’s birthday, but he says he’s now questioning whether he’ll continue going out at night in this area.

“Our community is devastated by the shocking scenes from last night,” Carter said. “As our Saint Paul officers work to bring those responsible for these senseless acts into custody, our work to build more proactive and comprehensive public safety strategies is more urgent than ever. We will never accept violence in our community.”

MORE: ‘We Need Cops’: Republican Candidates For Governor Decry Defund The Police Movement After St. Paul Bar Shooting

Gov. Tim Walz called the shooting “horrific.”

“Minnesota is keeping in our hearts the family of the young woman killed and the 14 others injured, and the St. Paul neighborhood reeling from this senseless gun violence,” Walz said. “We’re working in close coordination with local law enforcement as they apprehend those responsible.”

Police would like anyone who has information about the shooting to call 651-266-5650

This is the second mass shooting in the Twin Cities in less than six months. Back in May, 10 people were shot at the Monarch nightclub in downtown Minneapolis. Two of them died, including a University of St. Thomas student.

Accused Florida school shooter set to plead guilty in 2018 Parkland massacre

(Reuters) - Accused shooter Nikolas Cruz is expected to appear in a Florida courtroom on Wednesday to plead guilty to killing 17 students and faculty in Parkland, Florida, a 2018 attack that was the deadliest ever at a U.S. high school.

Cruz will enter guilty pleas to 17 counts of murder and 17 counts of attempted murder in the Valentine’s Day massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, his lawyer David Wheeler, Broward County’s chief assistant public defender, told the judge at a hearing last week.

Now 23, Cruz was a 19-year-old expelled student with a history of mental health and behavioral issues at the time of the “cold, calculated and premeditated” killings, the Broward State’s Attorney Office said in court documents.

The gun violence on Feb. 14, 2018, left 14 students and three staff dead and 17 others injured.

Because prosecutors have vowed to seek the death penalty, his change of plea from not guilty would open the penalty phase in which a jury would decide whether he should be sentenced to life in prison or death.

In Florida, juries determine whether to impose a death sentence. If prosecutors are not willing to drop the potential death penalty as part of any plea deal that may be struck with Cruz, then a jury would decide.

During last week’s hearing, Cruz pleaded guilty to assault and battery of a law enforcement officer in a separate case in which he was accused of kicking, hitting and punching a sheriff’s deputy as well as attempting to remove his Taser in a Nov. 2018 jail attack.

Before accepting his plea, Broward Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer asked him if he understood the impact the assault case could have in the penalty phase of the murder case.

“Sir, I need to advise you that the state is going to be using this conviction in this case as evidence of an aggravating factor for purposes of arguing in favor of the death penalty. Do you understand that?” Scherer asked Cruz.

    “Yes, Ma’am,” Cruz responded.

Some of the teenagers who survived the deadly rampage formed “March for Our Lives”, an organization that called for gun control legislation such as a ban on assault-style rifles.

In March 2018, the group held a nationally televised march in Washington that sparked hundreds of similar rallies worldwide. Cruz was 18 when he legally purchased the AR-15 rifle used in the shooting from a licensed gun dealer.
