You can't assume anything without facts, but if I were a gambler my money on some mass shooting would be on some emotionally unstable white guy. Oh, and I'm white.

bringing up his race, especially before we know, is racist. You might be white but I doubt you would call out a criminal as probably being black. So whether you are white or not, you are racially stereotyping. Not ok.

True. You are right. I'm wrong for thinking that. I do usually have a gut feeling these mass shooters are probably an emotionally disturbed white guy. I guess that is wrong, even though they usually are.

oh it is wrong. I was taught that it was wrong in public school 40 years ago. And it never matters what the stereotype is. There are plenty of crimes associated with a certain stereotype. We are supposed to be long past this problem now.

In general, we should default to never mentioning a mass murderer, shooter. They want fame and we should give them a black box. If it's a sad case of mental illness, that's different.

    saw u post this @deb4rockets

smh, as usual, all we’re getting is the same tired talking points like the aim of Democrats is to take away everyone’s guns...Are the only guns people have AR-15’s?

yeah, I’d definitely love to see everyone at my local HEB strapped and carrying weapons like in Teddie’s ideal fantasy world, and I’d definitely trust them

Do we think that banning Assault Rifles would be more successful than banning drugs was?

    or more successful than prohibition?

or more successful than making prostitution illegal?

Would love to hear some real answers that don’t include racism or bashing of the right or left.

Changing gun laws and making background checks etc...more thorough or even a proposal banning AR15 type guns isn't a ban on ALL guns like some of these radicals want you to believe. I bet the majority of Americans don't buy the BS that loose gun laws make our country safer. I bet the majority of Americans would vote YES to stricter gun laws. I bet most Americans know that Democrats aren't trying to ban all guns like these propaganda spewing NRA owned politicians try to make you believe.

I said “guns” originally but then changed it to assault rifles immediately.

So there would be no other way to obtain these guns if they were illegal? Aren’t lots of things illegal but easily obtained anyway?

Some people would think twice about buying illegal guns, just like selling drugs, driving drunk, or anything else illegal. That in itself would save lives.

This seems like your moving the goal posts. Restricting access would mean, you know, access is restricted and an AR-15 is harder to acquire. By your logic, why is anything at all illegal? Anyone anywhere at any moment can just say “Screw it, I’m gonna break the law”.

There are black markets for everything.

What’s your point here other than to deflect from the fact that AR-15 rifles are predominantly used in mass shootings, some of the most notorious, and no regular Joe has any business owning an AR-15. While we’re here maybe you can cite the number of times a regular Joe prevented a mass shooting because they had their AR-15 at the ready? And just how does concealed carry work with an AR-15 for the discriminating citizen that wants to shop their local King Soopers and not cause a panic?

Deb, you and the shooter have a lot in common. You both are trump hating racists.

Most people in the United States are white.

That's an unfair way to look at it and you know it.

White doesn't seem too disproportionately represented.

I mean, I can still kill 5 or 6 people with a 9mm before I get taken out or get away. If I really want to kill multiple people I don’t need an assault rifle. There are many ways to do it. I do understand what you are saying and I have no use for an assault rifle myself. Yet I don’t see a decrease in mass shootings/killings just because you take assault rifles away. It’s because doing that will not decrease the amount of crazy out there, which is growing rapidly. I don’t think it’s the same as saying “lets make everything legal” or whatever that was that you said above.

anyway, I do understand the common sense behind wanting to remove the most popular tool used in these tragedies. I also understand that if it didn’t decrease the amount of mass shootings that it wouldn’t mean it was wrong to do away with assault rifles anyway. Still, thats just me though. It is a free country. Why are we raising such an inordinate number of psychopaths? I mean its all about cutting the weed at the root.
