I agree. Disarming the populace on a large scale is problematic both on Constitutionally and practically. This is a cultural problem that requires a major change in culture. What we can do it make changes in the margins. This is where strengthening red flag laws and background checks are important along with cutting down on straw purchases. If someone already under current laws shouldn’t have a firearm we should make it harder for them to get and keep firearms but as long as we don’t have good background checks or straw purchase laws they will get them.
This is primarily a cultural problem and with kids like this or other “troubled” people they shouldn’t have firearms. We’ve had multiple school shootings where the parents knew their child was troubled yet still got them firearms. There was a case in MI where a parent even told their kid not to talk about firearms at school because they might take them away from him. He ended up shooting his school. The shooter at Sandy Hook was taught to shoot and given firearms by his mother. His mother was his first victim killed by a gun she gave him. Our culture has a major problem with firearms. As a martial arts instructor I am hesitant to teach martial arts to someone who is mentally ill yet too many think it’s fine to allow them to have or give them firearms.
According to school officials this shooting could’ve been much worse except for a new alert system tied into school ID that allowed authorities to act quickly. This is an example of how schools are putting in new systems to deal with the threat of school shootings. As an architect I’ve worked on school projects where we are considering design elements to address school shootings. It’s a sad statement on our society that we have to do so.
You don't need a permit to carry a handgun in GA anymore. Republicans did away with that under Kemp. We still have licenses so you can travel with your gun in states with reciprocity laws, but that is it. The facts are this kid was investigated for making threats and the parents chose keeping guns in their house over the safety of their son and his classmates.
Even if it took generations to fix, shouldn't we still fix it? Mass shootings will be here as long as guns are easy to come by. I don't favor bans either, but I favor universal background checks, reducing the firearms and accessories that make mass killing easier, and holding gun owners responsible when their negligence leads to these shootings.
No, you don't need permits. You don't need a license to carry. You don't need to register guns. You don't need to license them. What could possibly go wrong in Georgia?
Agree. Red flag laws for all, and cut out the damn loophole laws too. At a minimum I agree with your stance. I thing AR-47's should be banned. I also believe all guns should have to be registered, and licensed. Use that money towards more extensive background checks. Social services and mental health experts should flag all people unfit to carry guns in an easy to access system. I also believe all homeowners to keep guns locked up in a home where children have access to guns. No child should carry a gun without parental supervision.
And just because we can't eradicate the problem overnight, should we just throw our hands up and do nothing?
The people that hide behind the 2A also twist the words. The Right to bare arms was to have a "Well Regulated" Militia - we don't need that anymore - at the point in time it was written we had no standing army, so we needed our citizen army to be ready to form if necessary. Also, something not needed anymore......they forefathers made the constitution amendable, the knew it would need to be updated, what they didn't do was put enough checks and balances in against GREEDY politicians that now are paid by outside influencers/lobbyists like the NRA who just want to sell more guns. They don't give 2 ***** that kids are being killed, they just want more money.....and government is suppose to act to fix that - but the GOP is paid for by the NRA - we have half of the 2 parties in it for GREED ALONE and it is sinking this country. The GOP are traitors to what our forefathers envisioned, they are the party of GREED OVER PEOPLE - and need to be broken down and sent into the annals of history like the Whig party and others were when they became outdated. DD
Thats right, you never know what the future holds, and if the government gets too powerful, the people can always do something about it (if they're armed). The founding-fathers did it right, all the army-men are funded by the USA. Unlike the Roman empire where it was funded privately, therefore they've had bunch of civil wars, because they were devoted to an individual rather than Rome. In our case, no soldier will shoot at the American people (their own people), they're there for their country n the money, most of them dgaf about the government. Gun laws are fine, just need to fix the private sales issue.
Honestly . .. I think if the GOP was in 1775 They would be on the side of the Redcoats Definitely would be British loyalist who would have the king they crave Rocket River
Police Chief: "I never thought this would happen here..." Me: "Why the **** not? It happens everywhere."
Then why does maga want a rapist for a king/dictator.....................maga is about as independent as a flock of sheep. I get it, you don't want anyone to be held accountable when they break laws and put the USA in danger. drink that kool aid my man
You guys always bring this **** up, yet if the government really did want to **** us over, they have a lot more advanced technology to get us to abide. Your guns are not going to stop the best military in the world if they decided to be loyal to whoever is in charge. Lol.
these demons are absolute clowns Georgia Rep. Mike Collins, who represents the district where the horrific school shooting took place yesterday at Apalachee High School, said today that "it's not the time to talk about" gun control measures to combat the epidemic of mass shootings in America. When asked what he would say to the families of the victims of the mass shooting in his district yesterday, his response was consistent with what he said in 2022 - that the answer is more God and more prayers: "People are holding up because they have a strong faith in God. Prayers are being lifted up. I just encourage everybody out there - please, just continue to pray for those who didn't get to make it home yesterday .. It's times like this that your faith really comes into play." Collins was then asked to respond to Kamala Harris's remarks yesterday where she said that enough is enough and it is time for common-sense gun control legislation. First, the Newsmax host expressed outrage that Harris would even bring up this topic, then Collins weighed in: "It just goes to show that the politics from this Administration .. has nothing to do with people. They're going to continue to push an agenda. It's not the right agenda. In my opinion, it's not the right time to talk about what we see out there ... We've got to get back to God in this country, we have really gotten away from that from a moral standpoint. There's a lot of issues out there, she is dead wrong to bring that up at this time. It's just not the right time."
That military wouldn't fight their own people. We would overthrow that government if push comes to shove
Y'all are the ones that like taxes, therefore ya would think that 2% tax increase on the tea, isn’t a big deal. Still getting it all twisted
