My girlfriend is a big Astros fan. On our first date, we went on a tour of Minute Maid Park and then went to lunch. It was fun.

i'm just now catching up on all this (long day at work) and wanted to give props to my peeps for responding.

Nice Rollin - really appreciate the offer for the room. i prolly won't go that route this time but will definitely keep it in mind if it'll still stand for future use.
TBar - i like where you're going with this. i'm going to look into those ideas further...
Rocketman Tex - i like plans like this for a weekend trip but prolly not for an evening out/first date type of thing. great stuff though.
hotballa - i'm trying to get ideas on how where to take her out on a date. no worries though. if you had hoped to share date ideas for two dudes, i'm sure there's a bbs somewhere on the internets you can post these at ;)

i'm off to research further about sambuca, magnolia, farrago, cafe express and ruggles...

Lots of things you could do....

If she's fun-loving and such you could take her to the aquarium or the zoo.

If she's into cutural stuff take her to an art musuem. The natural history musuem is really fun too.

If she likes adventure and such take her to the beach.

The best date in Houston that Astro took me on was quite adventurous. After a few rather large mishaps, we went to the Moody Gardens aquarium and then had lunch at Wendy's and strolled on the beach a bit. It was fun.

Being a girl I can honestly say the best dates are the ones where you forget its a date. It means you're really into the guy and its really fun to hang out with him. It really doesn't matter what you do. Just follow these few guidelines

    1. Tell her she looks nice and then say something that catches her off guard. Ie. Astro told me on our first date " you look really cute. I like the silvery stuff on your eyes cuz it makes them even more sparkly than normal." I thought it was really sweet. I was also happy he noticed all the extra effort I put into looking nice cuz I was nerve racked.

    2. Keep her laughing. Laughing calms you down and girls tend to stress about dates.

    3. Feed her. You can't take a girl out with out getting her some food. Seriously even if its just Burger king get her something.

    4. Don't try to hard. This can kill a date. Sounds stupid but truly just being yourself makes everything flow more smoothly.

But mostly just have fun. :D Sorry this is so long. I get carried away giving my girl opinion out on these types of things, because sometimes you really do need a woman's touch. :D

For me it is! Get your freak on!! :D :D :D

El Toro....if it's an evening out, Sambuca is a good choice. I think Tommy Dardar is playing there this weekend nad he plays good blues and swing to dance to. Check out Red Cat Jazz Cafe also.

On our first date, I took my wife to Benihana. It was a big hit because its a show, dinner, and a place where you can interact.

Zone D'Erotica next to the Galleria? Just get everything out on the table early. Cut bait and dump her if she's boring.

Thanks to all for their input!

I looked a little further into the Sambuca dinner and Magnolia Hotel rooftop view combo. It turns out they require you to make reservations for at least 1 night as a guest at the Magnolia Hotel to partake in the rooftop view of downtown experience extravaganza. Oh well. Next question then; what kinds of activities are there to do in that part of downtown after dinner? I don't know whether it's safe to just walk around or whether there were some other options in the area...

ok so im taking a girl to the rockets game next saturday against the hornets. First date. Havent met her, just talked to her on the phone...coworker hooked it up

plan on dinner, hopefully at the hilton sky bar (i think thats what its called) or another place, maybe not as elegant?
been a while since i been on a legit date, so im gonna have to bring my A game!

should be an interesting evening. this may sound like a stupid question but i normally dont wear rockets gear to a game, but she told me she was, so should i wear some or will i look crazy not wearing some?

If she's wearing Rockets gear, I would. Sounds like she's somewhat of a fan. I'd recommend going and grabbing a pizza and some beers beforehand instead of trying to make it too romantic since you should both be donning your Rockets gear. :) Try Barry's pizza or that new place on Washington.

It is a first date, and you haven't met her.

Go straight to the game. If she's attractive and interested, talk about grabbing a snack and going somewhere after the game.

If neither apply (likely) throw a hot dog down her pie-hole and tell her to shut up.
