Honestly you think the nation should have been taken through all that nonsense in the first place? Tell me will we be seeing anymore independent counsels after the never ending white water saga? I think the reason for that is clear. The subject has obviously shifted in this thread away from a important Republican who called for Clinton's removal, who was in fact doing something much more disgusting. Does he represent the entire Republican party absolutely not. Does he deserve to have his name and reputation destroyed absolutely YES.

oddly enough, it was republicans who argued against the concept of an independent counsel to begin with! it was a creation after Watergate. it's a bad idea..i totally agree with you. but it was the law of the land at the time.

does this guy deserve to be shamed...absolutely. but i am always amazed at how many people will say, "clinton was impeached for getting a blow job." couldn't be further from the truth and completely makes light of the seriousness of lying under oath in court proceedings. do i think he should have been held accountable??? you bet your ass i do...as should anyone else who lies under oath. there has to be penalty for that or people will never take the courts seriously.

clinton has no one to blame but himself for "taking the nation through that." he lied under oath...then he came before all of us and wagged his finger at us saying, "i did not have relations with that woman, Monica Lewinsky."

Nope. No more than the nation should've been put through all the October Surprise crap, or the Bork hearings, or the Thomas hearings, etc.

IIRC, a Republican governor of Arkansas could not get the folks to vote the way he wanted on this, so he replaced some of them with Republican faithful, and had a revote on the disbarment...

There is a precedent for preventing nuisance civil suits until AFTER the term of office is up. Look it up. The *Republican* Renquist decided this wasn't a nuisance suit and let it go to SCOTUS.

a lot of these guys that are getting scrutinized for being with girls under 18 need to move to New Zealand or something...they're trying to lower the legal age limit for girls to have sex to 14  And I thought Europeans were freaky.
