a lot of people will disagree with you there. i think they're being too pessimistic. with yao, i believe we can give them a run for their money. i dont think we're that far off. we're down one superstar and our third scorer is injured...not exactly the state you want to be in when you run into THE elite team in the league. dont forget that we absolutely destroyed the mavericks with yao early in the season, and that was before their losing streak. we'll see what happens when yao gets back.

The Rockets lost to the team with the best record in the league, on the road, while missing their early MVP candidate (who happens to be the league's most dominant center), and on a night when they combined to shoot 33%. Well, we might as well tank the rest of the season and fire the coach, then. This article deserves 4 rolleyes.
This article is spot on with what happened in the game. Remove Rosen's name from the article and its exactly how i see it. It even says some of the things we say in here (except for Van Gundy' bogus "nice guy" persona. Of course there had to be at least one Rosen nugget in there.) Rockets have no quality depth at the moment, Luther Head can't pass, the veteran legs aren't always fresh, Rafer tries but can get it handed to him...And before we go saying Van Gundy needs to develop more players past an 8-man rotation, the Mavs only played 8 guys themselves until the end when both teams emptied the benches. No mystery - Get Yao back, Bonzi healthy & Snyder in shape.
The article was solid IMO. Other than the comment that Yao might not recover 100% I agreed with Rosen. Charlie Rosen really needs to lay off of the medical predictions as he is obviously ignorant in that field.
Rosen is a suck up, idiot! Always an anti-Rockets. Yao had 37 pts. and did n ot even drop a good line on our big guy! What a looser!
Usually, appears to go out of his way to criticize the Rockets and especially JVG, but I thought this was a relatively balanced analysis. If Howard and Battier shoot like this in the playoffs, forget about it.
Analyzing a team after one loss is about as pointless as analyzing a book after one page. Dickens describes a cat for one page in A Tale of Two Cities. Every team has an off night. Shooters go cold. That's GOING to happen; it happened the last three games of the NBA Finals last year. But to say that the Rockets are an overblown team due to watching one game (or to say that A Tale of Two Cities is a crappy book based on one page) is among the most ignorant (and just plain stupid) things I've seen a sportwriter do. So forget Charlie Rosen. I think we should be taking Hugo Chávez more seriously at this point.
I actually really liked this article. A bit brutal to read as a Rockets fan, esp. after a loss, but it was a clean dissection. As far as I can see, the team's already content on just winning. At this point, I think the team has to shift focus from just winning to the playoffs. The Rox can win every game left in our schedule but that means nothing if we get killed in the playoffs. They have to develop depth, even make a trade, and I'm willing to take in some losses for that. Seeding? Please. Championship teams should be able to beat any other team.
It is important. nobody wants to face the 1st seed in the 1st round of the playoffs. the rockets shouldn't give up too many games just to improve depth, otherwise it will be a short post season indeed.
on further reflection, it's probably rosen's job to be really harsh on teams...it seems to be his M.O...in the end it doesn't matter. when everybody gets back, we'll see how well the rockets can really play. it's not fair to judge a shorthanded team and then come to the conclusion that they can't play with the big boys.
rosen may be on about this particular game but that's not the point. he chooses, yet again, a rocket's loss to make some broad analysis on the rockets and their potential. he's a hater, plain and simple. van gundy said it best. last night's game was not a measuring stick. it can't be when you're undermanned.
If the Rockets are fit to win the championship, they should be able to beat any team. That's what being champion is all about, isn't it?
he's a complete tool. pure and simple, him and skip bayless need to go to a room and fondle each other while looking at pics of JVG when he had hair to relieve their tension whenever JVG, the Rox, or Yao is mentioned.
I hate Charley Rosen. He's completely biased against Yao and JVG. But surprisingly, he made a lot of good points about the game yesterday. I'm completely shocked, believe me.
You can count on a Rosen article every time the Rockets get blown out. It's like clockwork. Notice he didn't write anything about the two road victories over San Antonio, or the blowout wins over the Mavs and Timberwolves. He will criticize T-Mac for not driving to the hoop in one article and then complain that he's not getting enough 3 point attempts in another. It's funny how being Phil Jackson's buttboy has turned Rosen into such a vindictive little twerp about Van Gundy. I guess that's why Rosen's on the sidelines and Van Gundy pulls an NBA paycheck.
Yes, Charley, use a game where the Rockets played arguably the best team in the league without one of their 2 best players as a barometer for how good they are. Without Yao, they've done beyond expectations (well, any sane expectations anyway). How about we see how the Rockets do with Yao in there before we break out the barometers? If anything, that game just proved the Mavs were without a doubt a better team than the Rockets without Yao. With Yao ... no one really knows. I think even with Yao, the Mavs are probably a better team.
