I think it's a mistake to necessarily compare a draft prospect to another player as a means of discounting him. I actually did it the other day when I compared Mobley to Gobert as justification for preferring Green.

But Mobley is his own man. He looks to have higher defensive potential than Bosh and is already a better passer and ball handler than Gobert on paper. If we discount a player because we compare him to another guy, you can use the same logic for anyone. What if Green is the next Wiggins?

Bottom line, each of these guys has skillsets that make them unique. The Rockets should go BPA based on what they think those skills will develop into, not based on who they think each guy plays like.

No…. But KD was a highly touted prospect and drafted that way. WB was a better player in his sophomore season compared to KPJ.

We just had the worst record in how long of Rockets history? We are close to bedrock than foundation as of July 22 2021. Hopefully the foundation becomes more clear this upcoming season.

That’s not the same thing as they are in a different spot. Phoenix got lucky with injuries and beat whoever who was in front of them.

And of course you know…. Booker, Bridges, and Ayton are a foundation.

We were saying the same type of thing when we had Harden…. it's hard acquiring good players, much less superstars.

It's possible sure..... it's possible we get back to back rookie of the years or draft a superstar(s), work cap magic, work FA magic, work draft magic and be back in it 22/23 but unlikely.

Going from worst team (or a bottom dweller) to contender in a matter of 2-3 seasons takes a lot of luck.

I hope Stone drafts the young guys and lets them play. Dont bring in vets on the MLE and get another high pick in next years draft. Do this along with using 23, 24 and Tate, Gordon to trade up for another young stud.

    KPJ
    Green
    2021 top 15 pick
    2022 top 5 pick
    Wood

Or trade Wood for more young talent.

That's a potential good young squad if Stone can hit on the 2021, 2022 deep drafts. Plus you've got all of the Nets picks to move around in the draft. Or keep the picks and strike gold later. The future is bright.

KD is a highly touted prospect so is no 2 whether that's Green or Mobley. WB was yr 3 of OKC rebuild already we aint even started yr 2.

It took Booker 6 yrs to get where he is now, foundations dont happen overnight its a process. But just because it takes doesnt mean you say you have nothing we have some pieces we dont know how good they can be but clearly Rox are better than bedrock cuz a team starting from bedrock has 0 assets.

But KD is actually a generational player, not just one on paper. Maybe Green and Mobley are generational players, but they haven't played a minute in the NBA. Wood and KPJ are still unknowns.... those players aren't netting you a star or superstar in a trade.

I'm sorry, but we aren't the young OKC Thunder. We don't know if we have foundation yet and we may not know for another few seasons.

I'm aware of that, but right now all you have are hopes and prayers on the current roster. You WANT our pieces to be foundations, but it's too soon to tell.

Still closer to bedrock than foundation as of today.
