For those of you comparing mid-size cars/family sedans : http://www.roadandtrack.com/reviews/roadtests/ArticleDisplay.asp?ArticleID=438 I love the Altima's performance and I love the Accord's fully loaded interior. The Passat is getting to be old news, but is still a nice car. The Camry is about the most boring thing ever created. The 6 seems to be a good, but unproven car.
What is the 6? a drunk friend of mine said it was a Miata, but obviously, that isn't true. Also, what do you guys think of a fully loaded Dodge Neon? Here's the weird part: they have a version where you can get leather seats, but no power locks and vice versa. Sticker price for both/either: 16K. Salesman said I can get it for 12K. So, what do you think of a loaded Neon for 12K?
Thinking about a loaded Neon?...You and your friend need to sober up. Save up some more money, then buy a used import with low miles and the remaining factory and powertrain warrenty. I wouldn't waste money on a loaded Neon - it's still a Neon. Shop wisely and remain patient.
OK, another question. I'm thinking about the top of the line Civic. With my trade in deficit, I'd still only pay about $350 in payments, down $80 or so from my Explorer, plus the gas mileage is even better. Does anyone have a Civic?
I'm just thinking of the money I'd save by doing that. Like I said in the other thread, I'm planning on at least two 1900 mile road trips in the near future, and I don't really want to pay out my ass in gas. As opposed to gas coming out my ass.
RM95, I am in the same boat man. I know I will get ripped on my trade in compared to selling it outight. But I can lower my payments 200$ a month and get my wife a SUV which she really wants.
The Civic is one of the most reliable money saving cars on the market. If saving gas money is more important than size then go for it. I just can't imagine someone who's driving a SUV would feel comfortable in a compact.
I've driven all kinds of cars, and haven't felt uncomfroable in any of them. Unless of course, by comfortable, you mean it in a vain way.
What's wrong with the Neon? Come to think of it, American cars do seem to take a backseat (pun intended ) to Japanese cars.
I remember hearing about some guy who souped up his Neon If you're gonna do it, do it right with an import, or don't do it at all. I'd rather ride a bike than drive an American car.
There is a new Neon coming out, called the SRT-4. If you want a performance car that is cheap, it is the best one. It is about as fast as the 350z and costs almost $10,000 less. It is a lot faster than the cars in it's class. The point is any company can turn things around and make a great car.
What's wrong with a Neon? Reliability, Safety, Resale value... To be honest, I've never driven one, but Consumer Reports gave it a poor rating with the Cavalier running neck and neck for last place in it's class.
I had a Neon as a rental car for a few weeks in 1996 (same model year as well). Piece of crap. The thing felt like it was about to fall apart anytime I went over 60MPH. It only had a few thousand miles on it when I got it. So either the previous drivers drove it hard into the ground or it actually was a garbage vehicle.
The Neon is a piece of crap - plain and simple. This guy I used to sit next to at work had one and he tried to tell me and this girl that his Neon was bigger and longer than our Maximas. I was like, yea right BTW - he got rid of his Neon, and me and that girl are still driving our Maximas...wonder why?? As for gr8-1's dilemma, I would go with the Maxima but I am biased since I drive a '97 version. To me, the only thing that the Civic has over it is the better gas mileage, but I still get like over 30 miles to the gallon, highway, in my car, so it is not that big of an advantage, IMO, talking about the Civic's gas mileage. But the Civic is a good car, but I lean more to the cars that would have better HP and V6 engines.
buy new. better intrest rates. better, more reliable car. civics arent bad, but I would take a look at the focus.
RM95, in case you're interested, John Eagle Honda is advertising the '03 Civic SI at dealer invoice. http://www.johneaglehonda.com/frameset1.asp?LINK=Specials&MAIN=new_specials
I cna't find rm95's thread, but the 22K accord, was that used? My dad has stepped in and really wants to help. BUt, he favors the Accord and Camry. I'm leaning towards the 6.
