a fuel filter will make it stall when you come off of idle to accelerate not when you go into idle. The filter's restricted flow becomes a problem when going from a low to high pressure system not the other way around.

Sounds like your high speed muffler bearings are either clogged or need to be replaced.

He would hear a distinct warning 'chirp' if it was the blinker fluid.

No, but the muffler bearings probably are broken -- this can be a serious safety issue.

Why is that? I just went on a little ride and it did not do it all but that does not mean it will not again.

    ***EDIT***

Never mind, I keep forgetting this is KingCheetah I'm dealing with. :D ;)

My money is on a TPS (throttle position sensor). I had a claim on a Camry a week or so ago, exact same symptons. It was the TPS.

Is your rpms fluctuating up and down in idle? Is your rpm's real low?

If so either your throttle body is dirty, and can be cleaned with Gumout TB cleaner, or your throttle cable needs adjusting, to raise your idle RPM.

Could be any number of things, but a vacuum leak or idle air valve (sticking/dirty) come to mind as first checks.

There are MANY potential problems that will all cause a very similar symptom.
I wouldn't try throwing parts at it yourself, get someone who knows how these things work to look at it.
