Take it for what it's worth....I don't know how credible this Bongo guy is but everyone seemed to take him seriously last time he proposed that big trade on the Jets board. Apparently he's a proven NFL insider, but I really don't know much of his history. Now he is saying that he's hearing rumors of Dewayne Robertson being traded for Domanick Davis.

why would the texans need another 4-3 DT when they have payne, TJ, smith?

i know robertson doesn't fit their new 3-4 defense but robertson for DD?

Not very familiar to this Robertson guy but posters were saying he was the #2 guy behind AJ in the 03 draft.

But I hope we don't do this deal. Trading DD leaves us with no depth behind Bush (if we draft him). We would have to resign Wells at least since Morency would be our only backup.

Also, trading DD will have a 4M cap IIRC. This Robertson guy isn't cheap as well.

Dewayne Robertson was considered a reach pick in 2003 and the Jets fans booed unmercilessly (then again, they always boo) and hasn't lived up to his potential.

I find it hard to believe that the Texans would trade for another DT and get rid of their leading rusher, even if Reggie Bush is coming into the fold.

I found this interesting. If you have read the other thread that contained "insider info" from bongo:

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=111978

you might want to check this out:

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/scorecard/04/25/truth.rumors.nfl/index.html

In the other link bongo discusses the Raiders wanting to move up - as talked about in the link I posted, and the link also mentions the NYJs wanting to move down to select Ngata possibly signaling a trade of Robertson. I like DD, but I would not be adverse to trading him for either Oline, Dline, or secondary help. I thought Wells did a great job filling in for DD when he went down with an injury (again), Wells is a great special teams player, and he also catches the ball well out of the backfield. He brings some size to the backfield as well. DD may end up being a little redundant as Morency develops.

According to Bongo the Texans make this trade because Kubiak wants a 5 man tackle rotation on the d-line with the aim of stopping the run. My guess is Travis Johnson, Robaire Smith, Seth Payne, Dewayne Robertson, and Alfred Malone would be the five men. A couple of things though, I agree with the poster that said it leaves us thin in the backfield, and that's even assuming they re-sign Wells. We still need another back I would think. The other problem is would this deal even fit under the cap? We would have 4 big money deals with Smith, Johnson, Payne, and Robertson on the d-line.

Not sure on DD but from the original Draft trade thread these numbers are spouted for D-Rob.

Of course not, but don't we need 4 runningbacks? Or would they give some carries to Norris and Cook?

We don't necessarily need a 4th running back. We haven't had 4 running backs in the history of this franchise.

Unless you count Hollings. ;) :D
