I totally agree with you. The point of analytic is precisely to confirm or challenge subjective judgment. If you dismiss the result simply because it goes against your subjective judgment, then you might as well just throw any analysis out of the window.

If you disagree with it, disagree with the method, not the result.

The author himself admitted he might not have put enough weight on playoff performance. I think that's exactly why the result is skewed.

Like I said earlier. I still believe Hakeem is better. But the analysis sort of confirm to me that a lot of Rockets fans underrate Robinson simply because of their hatred of the Spurs and/or their memory of how Hakeem destroyed Robinson in the '95 playoffs.

BTW, whoever said the young Shaq dominated Hakeem was wrong. Hakeem in his prime was never dominated by anybody. And we'll never know how a peaked Shaq would have matched up with a peaked Hakeem.

I completely agree with this statement. But in the NBA, "big moments" and "big games" are a major factor in separating players from each other. Hakeem and Shaq clearly beat David Robinson in this regard. BY ITSELF, a sterile analysis of stats is not sufficient to judge great players because not all games are equal.

I've seen David Robinson take over games, go hog wild and dominate. But the fact he didn't do it in the playoffs like Shaq and Hakeem did is a big mark against him. But I agree with you Robinson stacks up much closer to Hakeem than people here want to admit.
