I AGREE WITH YOU 10000% NOTHING WAS AS GOOD AS CBS.. NOTHING. NBC BLEW CHUNKS COMPARED TO CBS. I thought that ABC would be just as good as CBS since they have Musberger. They aren't bad, they just lack coverage.
CBS!!!??? The network that showed Game 6 of the 1980 NBA Finals on tape delay at 11:30 p.m.? Remember, this was a historic game. This was Magic Johnson filling in for an injured Kareem and jumping center and scoring 42 points to win his first championship. This was a year after Magic and Larry set a ratings record for the NCAA final and CBS couldn't show the game live? I'm still bitter about this 26 years later! CBS was an anchor that nearly sunk the NBA. It's no coincidence that the league enjoyed a resurgence after it moved to NBC.
Actually, if you remember correctly, all of the NBA games were shown after the news (ala Wimbledon) back in the day, because the NBA was on a downward spiral. The reason why the finals were shown at such a horrid time was because basketball was the 3 sport in the country, right after football and baseball. Credit goes to Magic and Bird for reviving interest in basketball. Remember after 82 all games were shown live. The team that did those telecasts were simply amazing. ALL OF YOU YOUNGSTERS UNDER THE AGE OF 30 DONT REALIZE HOW LUCKY YOU ARE TO HAVE THE NBA ON TV IN REAL TIME.
