I see what you are saying. I guess it is as much about Coulter as it is the fact that she still has a job, or that anyone is willing to listen to her. She can't help but lower the quality of any news show that she is on.

Really? Then tell us why it isn't a big deal. I think it'll be fun watching you try and explain how it was an innocent and harmless thing.

I read somebody refer to her as a "coke snake". Now, I don't know what that IS, but it describes Ann Coulter perfectly.

If she said "press passes cant be hard to come by if that old towel head camel jockey Helen Thomas is sitting within yards of the prez", then I could see how it is bad.

since when is calling someone an arab derrogatory?

was that as fun as you had hoped?

    ha!

i wasn't offended at all by her comments either, but then again i am not easily offended. in fact, i'd go as far as to say the conversations i have with my friends would offend a whole-hell-of-alot-of people. we have a sick sense of humor.

but ann coulter is a f*cking loon, and Fox constantly giving her spots on their shows clearly demonstrates their "objectivity," or lack thereof.

It is offensive to presume that because Helen Thomas is had Lebanese parents that she is a danger to the president.

The only reason she listed as Helen Thomas possibly being a threat to the president is that she was of Arab decent.

It is wrong to assume any individual would do something bad based solely on race. That is exactly what Ann Coulter did.

SWTsig - You and your friends can have offensive conversations amongst yourselves, as can Ann Coulter. But when she publishes these types of accusations, and is still treated seriously by certain news organizations then something is out of whack

Since she was using the term to try to illustrate that HT shouldn't have a press pass. She was saying that if an Arab can get a press pass, then anyone can. She was equating the word "Arab" with the word "terrorist," and that is wrong.

Well that is one interpretation isn't it!?!

She was just cracking on one of Bush's oldest, harshest critics in my estimation.

Do you really think she was calling for the banishment of HT?

She was saying that Helen Freaking Thomas, a journalist with a long, distinguished, proven track record was on the same (or lower) level as Gannon, a part time hack whose "publication" was did not even exist before he started receiving press credentials.

And she did it by implying that all Arabs, HT included, were a security risk.

And you are defending her. Nice.

Did you read the article? Go to her site and read the edited version of the article.

She was comparing the criticism of Jeff Gannon getting a press pass because it isn't safe to give press passes to people who use fake names and aren't real reporters. That allows them access to the same room as the president.

So one criticism of Gannon getting the pass was that it shows a lack fo safety for the president. Coulter then says it can't be that hard to get a pass because that old arab Helen Thomas get one and is yards away from the president.

Why would she mention being just yards away to the president if it wasn't to show that the president is in danger by being that close to an ARab.

It was a racist comment. The comment without the context shows that clearly. The comment with the context only goes to seal the deal.

Actually she wasn't really joking. She was trying to make a point.

But if she was just joking then I have another question. Is it ok to make racial jokes in news commentary? So if people make black or jewish jokes is that ok?

In that case, how does George Warmonger Bush sound?

It was boorish and thank God that she doesn't have the power to make policy proposals.

However, she actually tried to use Helen Thomas as an example of people that shouldn't be allowed within "yards" of the president when referencing Gannon, for Christ's sake. Thomas may be a lot of things to you, but nobody can deny that she is a well credentialed professional journalist whereas Gannon seems to have been allowed into WH press briefings as a plant to lob softball questions on national TV.

And you are defending the witch for what she said. I guess I wouldn't be surprised if it were t_j or texx, but it really surprises me that you are so far gone.

Why does it matter if it's Helen Thomas? Is it supposed to be okay to say racist things about somebody if they criticize the President? When did you guys nickname her "Freak?" Is that another thing, only freaks criticize Bush?

BTW, the next time you see a middle eastern person, go up to them and say something like "hey Yuusuf, are you planing a Jihad, ha ha, I'm just kidding." Tell us how much they enjoy that joke.
