So I finally watched Your Name/Kimi No Na Wa last weekend, anyone else feel like it's really overrated? Don't get me wrong, it's an extremely solid movie, but I feel like the plot wasn't really fleshed out and the writer didn't really know what to focus on. Think he even stated so and said it's far from his best movie, so I'm kinda confused to see the movie being rated this highly on pretty much every anime board, imdb etc.
Just watched Koe no katachi, great movie and imo better than Kimi no na wa. Loved the message of the story and how they handled the growth of the protagonist, would've only been better if they fleshed out the ending a bit more (wanted more romance ).
I agree completely. From what I read online they skipped some key points from the story. Should've been made into a series.
I started watching animes on the recommendation of my friend. Now I am dying for Log Horizon season 3. ****.
Sword Art was alright for a while, but character development died after first half of season 1 and 1st half of season 2. I also watched some dumb happy stuff like Dragon Maid, and Kono Suba lmao. I've watched DBZ and Naruto before getting into other animes, but I mean those are universally watched. Basically just subbed to r/anime and I'm gonna use them to figure out which animes are good or not.
Myanimelist is a great source, although the ratings can be controversial sometimes. Also added my list: https://myanimelist.net/topanime.php https://myanimelist.net/animelist/Timbama?status=7&order=4&order2=0
This thread has recommended many of the good shows that I have watched in recent years. Show I would never have considered but were recommended here: RE:Zero Assassination Classroom Kabaneri My Hero Academia Orange etc.
Anyone here watched Tsuki ga Kirei? https://myanimelist.net/anime/34822/Tsuki_ga_Kirei Extremely refreshing to see a romance anime without any kind of harem, overdone drama, comedy or unnecessary panty shots. And they also start the relationship with plenty of episodes left, none of the last scene of the series finale bs. This is simply about a realistic middle school romance and that's it, probably the most realistic and genuine romance anime I've ever seen.
Caught up on Made in Abyss this morning. Probably the best new anime I've seen all year. I refuse to deal with Anime Strikes double pay wall BS, so this one slid in under my radar.
Watching Monster for the first time. Kinda slow but still pretty good. Have a feeling ive figured out the plot already though. Im on episode 11
