Macbeth, I guess I got my response mixed up with you and the one that I should have given to Mr.MeowGI. My opologies. I was infering that the fact that so much effort has gone into the bible and it's history, that it was important. It's important to me. Mr.MeowGI writes in "Damn Bible", THAT is what I was wrapping up into my response. Had I made that clear on my first post, you would not have even asked me those questions, but undoubtedly, you'd have a line of others to ask...... I was getting to the point that Mr. MeowGI should not mock religion. To specifically answer your questions, yes, I'm aware of the events that you mentioned, no, I have not studied them in detail.
2. When? I believe that I said that emotions fog the mind. As far as love goes, emotion is a byproduct of love. I believe that a person should have more love for his own family members, rather than a pet. 3. I don't get what you are asking here. Are you asking why man wasn't put ahead of the dinosaurs? Maybe because we need the dino's to live first so that we could have fossil fuels at our present time. If you are asking if God was the creator of dinosaurs, I'd say yes. Did God have to tell us about them? No. Dinosaurs weren't a species in themselves, there were many different species. Are you asking me which Dino that God put at the top? How should I know?
My opologies again. You have good points on the moral issues. I'm sure that throughout much of history though, that outside of the Jews, nobody new God's word, or his will, or morals. They were Gentiles. Until the days of Jesus....
When man domesticated cows, horses, cats and wolves (a few for example) he, and therefore his descendants, entered into a contract with the animals: the human feeds and cares for the animals, and the animals in turn, work for him, give him companionship, and most importantly give him food. Man GAVE domesticated animals rights. Through thousands of years of this relationship, animals have learned to trust man, and in fact, are very tolerant of some of the horrible things that men do to them, but you can't sit here and say that animals have no capacity to defend their rights. Animals will attack their aggressor when provoked, just like any human now would do the same. Just because humans have a higher order of Machiavellian intelligence, doesnt mean that other animals are completely devoid of it. The chimps who paint the pictures are not always doing it just for a treat. It's like teaching a child how to paint - once they learn, if they love it, they continue to do it, otherwise, they will do it when requested by someone of authority. Chimps also have mastered the concept of self image - they know what they are supposed to look like, and can recognize when something isnt right about their appearance - lots of animals do. And all animals are able to manipulate their environment to get what they want - and that's all humans do, only on a massively larger scale.
How do you know that, exactly? Were you an animal at some point? On a side note, I seem to remember reading somewhere that dolphins had more complex brain structures than humans. Just something to think about...
Righst, in a human society always belong to human being. So what is "animal Rights" you ask. It is just a convenience cover, or misuse of language. It really just reflect the human rights. Animals have "rights" only through their attachment with the human being, emotionally or economically, or environmentally. Pets have "rights", because their owner have emotional investments in them. Some wide lifes have "rights", bacause they need to be protected for the common wellbeing of the human society, et cetera. Any proclaimed "animal rights" are just "human rights" if you study them closely.
the dinosaur did got extinct because of either an astoriod or the ice age. but they died because of the weather change because of the astoroid. it got colder, and big coldblooded animals coudn't survive. That is why the mammal got alot more importent. The are warm blooded and less effected by weather change. That is why the dinasaurs died but they died over many years, like i said, the species now get faster extinct then when the dinosaurs died. that is something alot of people do not know. most people think that in a period of about a couple of hours they all got extinct. but that is not true. Ok maybe that wasn't the mst importent aspect of this discusion. but when i started writing that post, there was no reply, and i started to talk about rights of animals. i think they have rights because they are not so different of men. The fact that humans have culture and art, doesn't make us better. animalls also have laws. and why should we say that our laws are the only one. In a pack of wolves there is a social order that is lived by.
.through thousands of year, animals have learned to trust man....... Damn, they sure have good memories, and they live for a long time too. Sorry, that line of thinking is just rediculous to me. I think many of you are mistaking ABILITY with RIGHTS. An animal has the ability to bite you, but a right? Nah. I've got the ability to knock someone in the head with a bat, but is that a right? Nah.
thanks for the reply. i really hope that you are right. but at the rate humankind is growing they will have to colonize the space. the human brain is a great thing. But i think that some animals aren't as far bahind us as alot of people think. Monkey's have shown that they are verry intelligent(we are verry close related). and last year aven a crow showed he could use objects to get something done. ok humans are alot smarter. i think that if we do get more aware of the planet and colonize the space, we will be alright for another thousends of years. But what i think humans should not forget is that we are part of the nature. and that nother stays forever. if you look at how long humans are on the earth and how long the earth has been here then you are probably shocked. if we say that the earth has been here for 1 day., than the humans were born at 1 minute before 12. that is 1 minute at an entire day. that is not long. if humans colonize space then we will live alot longer. btw i didn't mean that i'm still alive when the earth get rid of humans. i think that will take another thousend of year. but i think it will happen if we keep doing what we are doing. sorry if my post are kinda of the topic. i just want to show that we aren't that different, and that therefor animals should have rights
I fail to see how you can know how rapid the extinction process took to wipe out the dinosaurs. I'm even more perplexed that the extinction of animals today is happening at a faster rate..
how come you do not think humans act on instinct? ofcourse we think and have rational thought. but humans also act because of a couple of things. Like animals humans have 2 goals. 1 survive 2 produce offspring you can say that everything we do are to get those two things. i'm not saying that i think this. But can you name anything that you cannot explain with this concept? let the flaming begin
The idea of righs ascribed to you is ludicrous. The fact that you think you're making a point is ludicrous. Your big beef is we need to make sure everyone knows how dumb the concept of animal rights is? Really? Didn't work, bro. Just made you look dumb. Really. Really, really dumb. I've read a lot of your posts. And I've thought a lot of them were really, truly, incredibly dumb. But I've never felt compelled to say so. Til now. Really, incredibly stupid post, dude. Really. Incredibly. Very, very, incredibly dumb. You may possibly not be a total ass, but you definitely play one on TV.
then i shall explain. If you look at the fossils you can see when they died. (not precise but pretty close). If you look at the species some died hundereds of years before other. there is are not hundred of different species found that died in the same years. So the scientists agree that they died in a period of hunderd of years. Now alot of species get extinct that most people do not know of. and alot of other nobody has ever heard of. for example have you heard of the snow leopard? it is one of the 3 most endangered big cats. most people have never heard of them (altough i can give you names of animals that get extinct that almost nobody has heard of). But if we do nothing 'they will not be around anymore. i hope this helpt
If you want to be someone who tells me that animals deserve the same kind of "rights" that I as a rational being can enjoy, go right ahead. You are one of those well-intentioned souls who believes the cute lil animals deserve rights that they can neither claim or form a union with others of their kind to protect. There is no way you can argue that animals are rational, creative beings like we are and thus deserving of rights, so you resort to silly, childish insults. If you want to be an irrational fool, be my guest.
I believe what is being argued is that animals will use their abilities to protect their rights, as they percieve them. Hopefully, you won't be knocking people in the head with a bat, unless you sense your rights have been severely violated, no? Maybe a higher-being imbued animals with 'rights'? How about those monkeys observed recently that understand the concept of fairness? If they performed a simple task, they received a treat. But when they saw another monkey receiving a more substantial treat for the same task, many either threw away their treat, or would no longer peform the task. This is not a logcial response if you only consider survival; something else is going on. They understand 'fairness'.... seems like they have intrinsic rights. And sorry, but it is presumptuous and obnoxious to assume that these rights are something only humans can grant.
ARRRGGGHHHH!!!!! First we need to discuss what a right is where it comes from, can we say rights are natural, and in that case what is the point of a government being there to protect them.... Does a right go away once a government goes away...? I would argue that the only rights that can be held are to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It seems as if governmental subtraction cannot infringe upon these rights. They are in the very essence and nature of being a human. However, to what extent would these rights then be passed down to an animal? This is the question of natural rights, in which animals do have the natural right not to be treated like a test dummy, to not be hunted down for trophies, to be respected as part of this beautiful creation that is earth. However, to say that they shouldn't be eaten? Tell that to a lion hunting down an antelope. As far as human are concerned, it's in our nature as omnivores to eat both meat and vegtable. I do miss the days of hunting down animals for food, but the grocery store isn't a bad option...kind of makes us lazy though... as long as we know where the food is coming from, and are thankful and respectful of it, I think its a perfectly sane alternative...
TECH- You seem to be interested in the Word revealed to us in the Holy Bible. In that case, what do you think of Isaiah 11: 6-9? http://www.abideinchrist.com/messages/isa11v6.html
