Oh, wow. You are a natural Einstein. You are exceptionally smart, and deserve recognition for outstanding achievement beyond the call of forum duty. For this, you shall be rewarded. Congratulations.
Men can get breast cancer. If you have moobs and breast cancer runs in your family, it behooves you to get a preventative mastectomy.
An adult conversation about what exactly?? Everyone else in this thread IS having an adult conversation. You're the ONLY one taking an idiotic stance about how Jolie is NOT courageous because she has MILLIONS (calling it MEALEONS is about as childish as it gets) of dollars, as if her wealth defines her character in this matter. Courage is cut from many different cloths, and I think it's PAINFULLY obvious that taking her plight to the public takes a certain amount of courage. I have absolutely no idea why you've decided to bring your distinct brand of antagonistic douchery to a topic as horrible as cancer (and cancer prevention), but then again, I have no idea what drives someone to be so annoying in the first place. You say others have brought "good" arguments, but I struggle to see what YOUR argument really is. That because she's rich and famous, she's not courageous?? I feel no need to bring a "good" argument to the table since you've clearly decided to waive that right.
My dear man. Use your Ignore List and cut out the cancer that is Swoly from your life. You will be much happier for it.
What was the fear she had to overcome in taking it public? Genuine question here. Was there a chance she'd be mocked, refused movie roles, banished from society, etc? I think it's admirable that she chose to share something personal to help raise awareness, but I don't know that I think courageous is the right word. Unless you mean overcoming the fear of sharing something personal? I don't know.
Are you living in the same world that we're in? I would say yes to all the above. Just go to tmz.com every once in a while and see the sort of stuff that gets 'reported' on and the sort of stuff that gets said about actresses, etc. It takes someone with star power like her to change people's perceptions. Some lesser actress would get stomped on (if not publicly) and swept under the rug.
Well I don't go to TMZ so I'll take your word for it. I haven't heard a single person ridicule her though. The closest I've heard to a negative comment is men mourning the loss of her breasts. Don't misunderstand me to think she should have just stayed quiet or something, I'm just not sure it took bravery to do it. When famous people come out and talk about medical issues they are facing they are typically universally praised and lauded as heroic.
It takes patience and determination when you're dealing with members with special needs. I must admit showing some limited praise to Swolly for recognizing his special needs and his thankfulness to those saints that are helping him integrate with real life.
