But dat 5 minutes dough... sweet bliss. Then there's the happiness I get from good plays during the game. Then there's the not thinking about the science behind it and just accepting my own happiness. Something tells me you might understand science, but you don't understand happiness and the point of it.
We're kinda circumlocuting the point now... I get all that, or I wouldn't still watch basketball as much as I do. My point is the whole idea of pro sports is silly enough as it is when it really comes down it. None of us can really give a good explanation for why we're here posting on a message board about a bunch of random guys who play basketball for a living. If we have to justify to ourselves why we're cheering for a guy we think is a ****ty person, it makes way too little sense to keep doing. The only reasonable counterpoint to me, and it's one you're also trying to make, is that Bogut is not as ****ty of a person as I think he is. Given the way he talked about being traded from Dallas, the way he acts on the court, and how much he's bounced around, I think there's pretty good evidence that he is. But either way, again, I also don't think the little bit of value he has for the 15 mins/game he's probably worth is going to be a difference maker for us. I'd rather just see how much 3pt shooting can do for us in the playoffs, and then go for a more long-term solution this summer.
Bogut has been an even bigger question mark. He has been an absolute disapppintment in Dallas, he didnt defend and sure as hell didn't rebound for his team so why will that happen in Houston? He's old and the main reason he even ended up in GSW was because he's too injury prone, how much does he have left in the tank? Sanders is still young, how long will it take him to get back in shape? 2 mos max he'll be in game shape amd be ready in time for playoffs. When it comes to risk Bogut is the bigger one.
He would be helpful to us, and I don't think he's as bad a person as some people take him to be. And he's only really been 'bouncing' in recent times. He was in 2 teams for the big chunk of his career.
Good points, but I'm still happy we won tonight! I'm gonna ride that for until the next loss! Geaux Rox!
Yeah I don't understand not wanting him for the occasional game and a bit of backup. We aren't bringing any centre in whether it is bogut or whoever to be a big difference maker on a big contract. It'll be a few month rental for some 3rd string minutes to give Nene some rest.
TWolves had 58 rebounds, Rockets had only 31 rebounds and gave up 130 pts. 9.9 out of 10 games, if you get out-rebounded like that, you lose the game, it didn't happen for the Rockets. If Bogut played for the Rockets for that game, the rebound margin would be closer to the TWolves and it would be a 30+ win, not +12.
I have to admit.... this is kind of a thing for me too reg Bogut. Having a likable team to root for means something to me. We all remember that last Adelman/Battier/Scola team. While they weren't going to win a title, man was that year fun to watch. Likable players really do make a difference in the fan experience whether we want to admit it or not, or even if the WIN-Purists want to admit it or not. If Bogut would have kept his mouth shut about politics I guess I might think differently, but I have to admit that while Bogut would be a nice SITUATIONAL addition, I'm not totally on board with this move yet IF he decides to sign in Houston which I doubt he will. Hearing that GS can sign him again makes me believe he'll probably go right back there. But the one positive things about this is he did get along with his GSW teamates who certainly don't share his sad worldview, and as it relates to basketball, we know he can play in an uptempo 3 point shooting system very well whether he wants to admit it or not. So if it happens, it happens, and we will have to be objectively positive about the good things that can happen from it.... like getting rebounds, and defending beasts down in the paint from time to time.
Anybody opposing Bogut can f*ck off. I don't even care if he's a murderer as long as he can help this team win
Yeah, and i don't understand the arguments against him anyway, we know the front office is after him from the start of the season so yeah, they think he can help us (for obvious reasons), that's all we know and what matters in the end.
Don't know if already posted but, per Shams: "The Cavaliers also are monitoring Philadelphia center Andrew Bogut, who is engaged in contract buyout talks to enter free agency. Bogut has had a phone conversation with 76ers coach Brett Brown since his trade from Dallas, league sources said, and he respects Brown and the culture of the 76ers. However, Bogut wants to pursue a championship and play a significant role for a veteran team. Cleveland, San Antonio, Houston, Boston and Utah have had discussions with Bogut’s representatives over the last 24 hours, league sources said."
I'd get Bogut just to keep him away from the Spurs who the rockets could very easily play in the second round of the playoffs. IMO Bogut has still got some game left in the tank, he was 2nd team all defense year before last on an uptempo team. I'll be surprised if he ends up with the rockets though.
We will see Lebron the GM work his magic. I just hope the Rockets get some players by March 1st. Big games coming up this week against teams with some serious bigs.
